Associate Community Manager (Independent Contractor) Department: Community Employment Type: Contract Location: United States Compensation: $29.00 - $30.00 / hour Description Ruckus Games is a remote-first startup studio seeking a passionate Associate Community Manager for a 20-week independent contractor engagement. We are an independent "developer-first" studio committed to providing damn fun games to our players. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in community management live streaming. and maintaining an online community. We value charisma, thoughtfulness, and an outgoing nature. You should be eager to expand your skillset and embrace new challenges. We believe in fostering a team of highly talented generalists who contribute wherever needed to drive our studio's success. As a "face" and "voice" of the studio, you should be comfortable on camera, performing live streams and be adept at public speaking, with a proven track record in these areas. Familiarity with the content creator and streaming communities is highly desirable. You have an opportunity to help build fandom for a brand-new 3rd person shooter, work in community operations, and interact with leadership on a daily basis. Contract Terms: Duration: 20 weeks Classification: Independent contractor (1099) Schedule: 40 hours per week (Core hours 11-4 CST/CDT) Rate: $29-30/hour (based on experience) Location: Remote (US-based contractors only) Ideal Start Date: November 2025 Contract Details: Payment issued semi-monthly via direct deposit (1st/15th of the month) Contractor responsible for own equipment and home office setup though a company laptop may be issued for the correct candidate Flexible scheduling within project requirements Responsibilities Community Management and Moderation Manage and moderate the Ruckus Games Community Discord daily, ensuring a safe and engaging environment Work with leadership to develop lightweight initiatives (polls, Q&A events) to keep the Discord active Share updates about the studio and game (e.g., playtest times, key updates about the game and studio) in the Ruckus Games Community Discord) Social Media & Content Maintain and grow our presence on our priority platforms TikTok, YouTube, IG, Discord, and LinkedIn Work with an external video contractor to issue new social content 2x per week Gather and create materials (communications, pictures, videos, etc.) for dissemination on social media not limited to Tik Tok, LinkedIn, and YouTube Manage social media outlets and external communication Maintain an understanding of industry trends for maximizing player engagement Update all social media platforms regularly, as determined by project needs Provide regular updates to leadership on social media growth and game sentiment Manage and grow relationships with content creator/streaming community Additional tasks as required by project leadership Playtest Support Help to draft external communication with creators and players with playtesting leadership Work with playtesting leadership on executing various playtests Manage and grow relationships with content creators and the streaming community Livestreaming Maintain and perform daily live streams for the studio on our company Twitch and YouTube channel Any additional tasks as required by project leadership! Qualifications Required Skills Minimum of one year of experience in streaming or community management Familiarity with TikTok, YouTube, and Twitch Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Charismatic, thoughtful, and outgoing personality Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to various aspects of studio operations Positive and enthusiastic attitude that motivates the team Must be an avid gamer and able to communicate with gamers effectively Comfortable on camera and experienced in public speaking Desired Skills Familiarity with Discord, TikTok, Twitch, and YouTube Hands on experience moderating a Discord Server Knowledge of deploying ad spend against YouTube, TikTok, and other social platforms Familiarity with the content creator and streaming communities or experience running or supporting creator playtests
