Salary: $25-27 per hour Kitchen Coordinator (Solara House, Part-Time) In-Person Part-Time (20 hours per week) Position in Oakland, CA (Non-Exempt) Reports To: Facility Manager Who We Are Ruby's Place dba Restorative Pathways (RP) is an innovative nonprofit committed to ending domestic violence, human trafficking, and violent crime through hope, advocacy and connection. Our services include emergency shelter, transitional housing, rental subsidies, mental health services, substance recovery, and wrap-around services. All our services are trauma-sensitive and client-centered and are provided at no cost to our clients. All programs are low-barrier. You are flexible, creative, and take initiative in handling emergencies. What qualifications are required for this position? You Are Also: • At least 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen or similar environment. • A valid California Food Handler Certification or equivalent (ServSafe preferred). • Knowledge of dietary restrictions, food allergies, and culturally appropriate meals. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to cleanliness and safety standards. • Ability to plan menus, manage inventory, and minimize waste. • Strong communication skills and sensitivity to working with trauma-impacted populations. • Familiarity with trauma-informed care is preferred. • Able to lift 50 lbs. • In possession of a valid CA driver's license, proof of insurance, and be approved by Rubys Place insurance as a driver in order to drive agency vehicles. If a staff member cannot be approved by Rubys Place insurance as a driver, employment might not be able to continue. Instances where staff cannot be approved to drive will be reviewed on a case by case basis to determine if employment can continue in their role without driving agency vehicles. Items considered include but are not limited to: the shift the staff member holds and the frequency/necessity of driving during that shift, the amount of time before the staff member may be approved to drive by the insurance carrier, the availability of other staff on site to drive agency vehicles as program needs require, etc. • Able to complete a background check and fingerprinting (Live Scan). What You Will Do The anticipated start date for this position is November 2025. This position is a hands-on position overseeing the operational aspects of the kitchen at Solara House. In this role, you will work with the Facility Manager and Residential Advocates to plan and prepare the menu, grocery shopping meals and snacks for the programs adhering to all licensing and food safety requirements and standards. You will also play a key role in establishing the NSLP and making sure their standards and guidelines are met. Responsibilities include • Prepare three daily meals and snacks for residents, ensuring compliance with nutritional guidelines and individual dietary restrictions. • Collaborate with staff to accommodate dietary preferences and health needs. • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. • Develop rotating menus that are culturally inclusive and cost-effective. • Order and manage kitchen supplies, track inventory and minimize food waste. • Foster a welcoming environment in the dining area that promotes well-being and comfort. • Work with the program team to support special events or meal-related activities. • Adhere to confidentiality and safety standards in all interactions. • Complete food safety and trauma-informed care training as required. • Complete functional timesheets by assigned due dates in compliance with time allocations. • Actively participate in reflective supervision sessions. • Create and maintain documentation of processes and procedures related to job duties. • Perform other duties as assigned. Working Conditions This position is in-person. You are expected to be availableon-site as necessary given business needs. You must be able to stand for long periods of time and perform physical activities, including lifting up to 50 pounds. You will be subject to frequent interruptions and must be able to multitask and handle stress. Local travel in the greater Bay Area may be required. Applying The pay scale for the Kitchen Coordinator is $25-27 per hour.
