Description: As a Store Protection Specialist at Ross Stores, you serve as the primary face of safety and security for our retail location. This role is designed for someone who can balance a high-energy customer service approach with a vigilant command presence. You will spend your shift at the front of the store and on the sales floor, using your interpersonal skills to welcome shoppers while simultaneously identifying and deterring potential theft. Your goal is to foster a secure shopping environment where both associates and customers feel protected, ensuring that the Ross Treasure remains available for our community. Qualifications: • High school diploma or a GED equivalent (an Associate’s degree is a plus). • Previous experience in retail supervision or specialized security training is highly preferred. • A current and active Security Guard License is preferred for this role. • Natural ability to de-escalate conflict and handle high-pressure situations with a calm demeanor. • Strong physical stamina, including the ability to stand and walk for the duration of a full shift and lift items over 25 lbs. • Must pass all state-mandated background checks, drug screenings, and fingerprinting requirements for security personnel. Responsibilities: • Maintain a constant, visible presence at store entry points to discourage shoplifting and fraud. • Greet every customer with a professional smile and eye contact to establish a culture of service and awareness. • Patrol the sales floor to spot "theft indicators" and suspicious behavior, reporting findings to store management. • Enforce the Code 50 package inspection policy and ensure all safety exits remain clear of debris. • Collaborate with the Loss Prevention team to educate store associates on shortage reduction and operational best practices. • Conduct regular audits of checkout procedures to ensure compliance with company financial protection standards. • Model the company brand by adhering to the required dress code, including the professional black attire and issued safety vest.
