Full Description

The Opportunity We’re looking for a Lead Technical Program Manager to help drive and manage cross-functional technical initiatives across the organization. This role will work with stakeholders from Data Science, Engineering, Information Security, Marketing, and Product teams to deliver Root’s Information Security programs. Technical Program Managers at Root are expected to wear many hats, blending technical expertise with strong program management capabilities. As a TPM, your primary responsibility will be to lead and drive complex, cross-functional technical initiatives with a focus on engineering rigor, operational excellence, and delivering results at scale. You will be the driving force behind defining technology, project, program, and product requirements, ensuring that these align with organizational objectives and deliver value to the business. You will navigate ambiguity, mitigate risks, and influence stakeholders across all levels to deliver successful outcomes. Salary Range: $165,248 - 188,000 (Bonus and LTI Eligible) How You Will Make an Impact Lead Complex Technical Initiatives: Drive large-scale, cross-functional programs by collaborating with engineering, product, and data science teams to achieve optimal technical and business outcomes. Advance Engineering Excellence: Ensure high standards of engineering rigor and operational excellence across projects, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and scalable solutions. Strategic Planning & Execution: Break down ambiguous technical problems into actionable tasks, prioritize deliverables, manage timelines, and identify risks to ensure successful program delivery. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels, communicating technical concepts clearly and tailoring messages to different audiences. Risk Management & Decision Making: Identify technical and program risks, negotiate trade-offs, and make informed decisions to optimize business outcomes. Process Optimization: Develop and refine processes to streamline teamwork, increase velocity, and reduce complexity, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and on time. Metrics-Driven Success: Help establish and track key metrics to measure program success, driving continuous improvements based on data and feedback. What You Will Need To Succeed 4+ years as a DevOps/DevSecOps, infrastructure, or software engineer 2+ years leading technical projects/programs Broad experience in cloud technologies, AWS preferred Familiarity with Agile/Kanban processes Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools Proven experience in planning and executing cross-functional projects that achieve the expected outcomes or drive significant learning Excellent communication skills both with engineering colleagues and team stakeholders As part of Root's interview process, we kindly ask that all candidates be on camera for virtual interviews.
