Certifying Scientist (Toxicology) Rocky Mountain Laboratories – Remote (USA) About Us Rocky Mountain Laboratories is a clinical laboratory providing comprehensive laboratory services. Position The Certifying Scientist (Toxicology) is responsible for certifying patient results and ensuring compliance with CLIA/CAP regulations. This role requires hands-on LCMS experience with a strong focus on drugs of abuse or pain management testing in a clinical laboratory setting. Description This is a contracted 1099 position, as needed, open to qualified candidates located within the United States. The start date is flexible and will begin as soon as we find the right fit. Schedule: Flexible schedule (remote, U.S.-based) Responsibilities: • Operate and maintain LCMS instruments, including Agilent 6460 or similar • Conduct toxicology testing with a focus on drugs of abuse analysis • Certify patient results to ensure accuracy and compliance with CLIA/CAP and regulatory standards • Perform quality control procedures and take corrective actions as needed • Collaborate with other departments to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols, SOPs, and regulatory requirements • Interpret and analyze data, generating accurate patient result reports • Assist in method validation and continuous improvement initiatives for toxicology testing • Other duties as assigned by management Required Qualifications: • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in chemistry, biology, clinical laboratory science, or a related field • Minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical toxicology • Certifying Scientist experience (must have experience certifying patient results) • LCMS-specific experience, including Agilent 6460 or similar • Experience with drugs of abuse testing • Strong organizational and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and deliver accurate results efficiently • Prior work in a CLIA or CAP-accredited laboratory All positions require time zone awareness, including the impact of daylight saving time, as we are a multi-state organization with teams and partners across different U.S. time zones. Clear communication and timely coordination are essential. Preferred Qualifications: • Beckman Coulter AU480/680 experience • Experience with method validation in a toxicology setting Job Type: Contracted, Remote (1099) Salary: $30–$50/hour, DOE (set by hiring manager) Benefits: This is a 1099 contracted position and does not include Rocky Mountain Laboratories employee benefits.
