5+ years fullstack experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React/Next.js, Contentful APIs and tooling, CI/CD pipeline development, cloud-native delivery, and cross-functional collaboration.
About the Role At Robots & Pencils, we build meaningful, scalable digital solutions that help innovative organizations move faster and smarter. We're hiring a Fullstack Contentful Platform Engineer to help architect, implement, and scale a modern digital experience platform powering interoperable web, mobile, and kiosk applications across a multi-venue hospitality and entertainment environment. In this role, you'll support the development of a headless architecture ecosystem that includes Contentful, MuleSoft, and modern multi-channel front-end experiences. You'll work alongside engineers, architects, designers, and data teams to deliver end-to-end product slices that enable personalized user journeys, cross-platform content delivery, and seamless, real-time experience orchestration. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who loves solving complex system challenges, thrives in product-driven environments, and takes pride in building reliable, scalable, modern content platforms. Key Responsibilities Platform Engineering & Fullstack Development • Build and maintain scalable Contentful-driven backend and API-enabled systems supporting web, mobile, and kiosk applications. • Develop extensions, automation, CI/CD pipelines, schema migration scripts, and operational tooling to support multi-environment deployments. • Implement composable architecture patterns to support reliable and reusable content experiences. Integration & Cloud-Native Delivery • Integrate Contentful with front-end applications, MuleSoft middleware, CDNs, external data platforms, and real-time orchestration services. • Optimize caching, performance, and delivery layers using Vercel and modern edge architecture patterns. • Ensure stability and consistency across development, testing, staging, and production environments. Quality, Reliability & Observability • Monitor platform behavior, diagnose system issues, and improve operational resilience. • Implement governance guardrails including roles, access controls, auditability, and maintenance processes. • Ensure solutions meet accessibility, scalability, security, and performance standards. Collaboration & Thought Leadership • Partner with UX, product, engineering, and content teams to align architectural decisions with user experiences and editorial workflows. • Document reusable patterns, system behaviors, and deployment frameworks for internal teams. • Participate in planning, refinement, and agile cycles to support iterative delivery. Required Skills & Experience • 5+ years of fullstack engineering experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React, or Next.js (Vercel preferred). • Hands-on experience with Contentful APIs, webhooks, SDKs, app framework, GraphQL, and schema migration tooling. • Experience building CI/CD pipelines and content deployment workflows across multiple environments. • Familiarity with cloud-native delivery—edge computing, caching, observability tooling, and platform governance. • Experience collaborating across multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams building complex digital ecosystems. Travel Requirements: Occasional, based on team or project needs Soft Skills & Behaviors • Collaborative mindset • Clear communication • Comfort with ambiguity and iteration • Product thinking and user empathy • Proactive problem solving • Ownership mentality • High attention to detail • Low-ego teamwork and craft pride Why Join Robots & Pencils? You'll work alongside world-class designers, engineers, and strategists on a highly visible, high-impact platform powering modern connected experiences. If you enjoy building scalable systems that enable personalization, speed, and seamless cross-channel journeys, we'd love to meet you.
