We handle refrigerated and LTL needs by leveraging no sailing schedules, our nationwide network of 32 strategically placed temperature-controlled facilities, our state-of-the-art tracking, and our specialized equipment and warehousing capabilities. In 2022, Roadtex was acquired by Echo Global Logistics. The acquisition brings a truckload brokerage and expanded transportation management solutions to Roadtex's customers while providing Echo with our national warehouse footprint and advanced temperature-controlled transportation solutions. Position Summary The Supervisor, Supply Chain Specialist in our Value Added Services (VAS) is responsible for driving operational excellence, consistency, and client satisfaction across Roadtex's portfolio of Value Added Services, including labeling, kitting, assembly, repacking, rework projects, and other fee-based operational enhancements. This role oversees daily VAS support execution, coordinates with cross-functional teams, supports procurement/supplier interactions, and ensures all VAS activities meet established quality and productivity standards. The Supervisor acts as a central resource for planning, implementing, and improving VAS programs, while serving as a liaison between warehouse operations, clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. The position supports continuous improvement, cost control, and scalable processes that enhance Roadtex's service offering and provide measurable value for clients. Key Responsibilities Client Coordination & Support • Act as a primary point of contact for client-specific VAS needs, ensuring clear communication of requirements. • Support client onboarding for new VAS programs, including documentation, workflow mapping, and training. • Participate in client calls, business reviews, and continuous improvement discussions. • Identify potential additional VAS offerings and value-creation opportunities to expand Roadtex's relationship with clients. Continuous Improvement & Operational Optimization • Analyze productivity, throughput, and quality data to identify improvement opportunities. • Assess Continuous Improvement tools and AI platforms for efficiency potential. • Implement lean principles to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and increase capacity. • Support cross-site alignment of VAS practices and ensure consistent delivery across the Roadtex network. Supplier & Procurement Support • Assist in sourcing materials required for VAS programs (labels, packaging, consumables, equipment). • Participate in vendor evaluations and selection for small-scale VAS-related purchases. • Monitor supply levels; coordinate replenishment to avoid disruptions in production work. • Support price comparison activities, vendor communication, and small RFPs as needed. Supplier Relationship & Performance Management • Establish vendor scorecards, KPIs, and governance mechanisms to monitor vendor performance (cost, quality, service, delivery accuracy, issue responsiveness). • Conduct regular supplier business reviews and ensure corrective actions are implemented where required. • Maintain positive supplier relationships while ensuring accountability to Roadtex standards. • Analyze market trends, price indices, and commodity movements to identify risks or opportunities. Client Liaison & Value Creation • Support Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) strategy discussions with clients, offering cost-saving and process-optimization recommendations. • Identify additional opportunities to expand Roadtex's service offering through value-added procurement services, material consolidation programs, or procurement outsourcing. • Partner with Account Management to propose savings initiatives, procurement consolidation strategies, and operational efficiency improvements. Cost Reduction & Spend Analytics • Analyze current spend patterns across networked warehouses to identify high-impact savings opportunities. • Create and maintain a centralized spend dashboard or reporting mechanism for consumables and operational supplies. • Develop cost models and should-cost analyses for materials and services. • Partner with Finance to codify savings into budgets and forecast models. Operational Coordination & Governance • Collaborate with operations to understand daily material needs, inventory thresholds, and service requirements. • Support sites in resolving supplier issues (delivery timing, quality problems, backorders, etc.). • Define and maintain preferred vendor lists for the business, including site-specific variations. • Establish material standards to reduce SKU proliferation and leverage scale. Compliance & Risk Management • Ensure supplier compliance with Roadtex quality, safety, temperature-controlled handling, and regulatory standards. • Support risk assessments for critical suppliers, including contingency planning. • Partner with Legal or internal resources to coordinate contract reviews and renewals. Qualifications Education & Experience • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or equivalent experience preferred. • 1+ years of operational experience in warehousing, distribution, 3PL, manufacturing, or supply chain environments. • Experience supervising teams or leading small workgroups preferred. • Familiarity with WMS functionality, inventory processes, and client-facing operations. Skills & Competencies • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; client-service mindset. • Basic procurement understanding (sourcing materials, comparing quotes, vendor communication). • Ability to read and interpret client specifications, diagrams, and packaging standards. • Strong analytical skills with ability to evaluate data and drive performance improvements. • Working knowledge of Lean/CI principles and AI LLM understanding. • Proficient in Excel, reporting tools, and standard office productivity applications. Success Measures • Established procurement SOPs and RFP processes within defined timelines. • Documented cost savings and year-over-year material cost reductions. • Improved supplier performance metrics (quality, responsiveness). • Reduction in site-level SKU proliferation and material variability. • Positive client feedback regarding VMI strategies and procurement engagement. • Increased penetration of Roadtex procurement services within existing clients. Working Conditions • Warehouse operations environment with temperature variations and PPE requirements. • Occasional travel to other Roadtex facilities and client locations (10-20%).
