Java Architect/Tech Lead Location: Ashburn, VA Work Schedule: Hybrid Schedule (FT/PT): Full Time Clearance Required: CBP Public Trust will be processed, Active CBP Public Trust OR an Active Top Secret or higher clearance preferred. Job Description: In this hands-on position, you will work collaboratively to architect, design, build, deliver, and enhance highly available, scalable, real-time systems. You will exercise your judgment in determining and recommending the best designs based on the customer’s business objectives, timelines, and other resource constraints. You will participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle of a mission-critical product, including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding, and unit testing. Primary Responsibilities: This role requires an experienced Java Cloud Architect with significant DevOps experience. This role designs, develops, and implements a Cloud-Native Service architecture that software development teams can leverage to move services to use native cloud capabilities. This role works directly with implementation teams to provide technical guidance and implementation priorities related to cloud implementation. This role provides architecture expertise and delivers an innovative product, service, or a combination of products and services that address a customer’s specific requirements. Support the development and architecture of enterprise software solutions within AWS. Develop innovative approaches and solutions, using non-quantitative tools and guidelines from past experience. This role provides execution guidance and practical architecture guidance to the O&M organization. Additionally, understanding application development lifecycles as well practical experience in working with continuous integration and continuous deployment tools as part of the container lifecycle will be useful. Support all aspects of systems engineering (designing, architecture, troubleshooting, testing, and maintaining products). Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Interface with software developers, analysts, and other project team members using Agile SCRUM methodology and SAFe to deliver features that enhance system capabilities and facilitate CBP’s mission. Translate customer needs into user stories and deliver working capabilities at the conclusion of each sprint. Work with others on product teams to design and implement solutions to hard problems that are impeding progress. Effectively communicate technical challenges, options considered, and the recommended solution to senior leaders both within Leidos and CBP. Assist in change management of container platform for new versions of OpenShift, Hotfixes, SysAdmin tasks, etc. Works with experienced team members to conduct root cause analysis of issues, review new and existing code and/or perform unit testing. Authors/edits system documentation/playbook(s) Partners with experienced team members to develop accurate work estimates on work packages. May serve as a mentor on procedural matters to less experienced internal and third-party team members. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of related experience. Additional experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree. Provide IT repair, maintenance, operations, logistics, and engineering services to help ensure secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability of the TPVS’s applications. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Extensive experience interacting with cross functional project teams including Software Development, System Engineering/ Verification and Validation, Security, Compliance and Quality Assurance. Extensive experience working in Agile, SAFe, and Scrum environments. Extensive experience working with Java, Spring, DevOps CI/CD related technologies (Azure DevOPs, Git, Jenkins, Puppet, Docker, Confluence, Sonar Lint, and Junit). Desired Qualifications: Knowledge of Software Configuration Management life cycle deliverables. Minimum of one AWS Certification from the AWS Associate level (AWS Certified Architect Associate, AWS Certified Developer Associate, or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate) Extensive experience in Cloud Technologies and infrastructure -as-code concepts. Understanding of aspects of architect and design enterprise cloud solutions and AWS. Preferred Qualifications: Two or more AWS Certifications from the AWS Associate Level or AWS Professional Level: AWS Certified Architect Associate, AWS Certified Developer Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional One AWS Certification from the AWS Professional level or Specialty Domain Active CBP BI Strong written and verbal communication skills.
