Full Description

Newport News, Virginia Overview Performs a wide range of clinical duties including assisting the provider in providing quality care in a medical office setting. Assists with training of new hires. Position requires rotating to all urgent care locations. What you will do • Collects and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. Performs lab tests as directed. Responsible for cleaning and stocking of lab. • Follows insurance carrier guidelines and Medicare regulations. Maintains a working knowledge of ICD9 and CPT coding and seeks assistance as needed. Responsible for support of the practitioner in providing quality care to patients to include triage and assessment of patients, collection and documentation of vital signs, assisting with examinations and procedures. Administers medications within legal scope of practice and training. Cleans and sterilizes exam rooms and equipment. • Acts as a liaison between provider and patient, providing patient access to care, including for appointments, referrals and essential information. Demonstrates excellent customer service to include providing timely patient response and follow up. Manages patient expectations with clear explanations (i.e., informing patients about delays as appropriate). Provides patient education per protocol and provider instruction to include Electronic Health Record and exit interview communication tools. • Maintains excellent clinical competency to include the initial patient work up (including manual vitals), chaperoning patients, assisting providers with procedures, and ensuring patient rooms are clean and compliant for next visit. Ensures that clinical equipment is maintained and clinical supplies are ordered and stocked as necessary.
