Janitorial Cleaning Services Supervisor Position Result Description Organizational Mission Rio Grande Bible Ministries exists to glorify God by serving the church through equipping leaders, edifying believers, and evangelizing the lost. The physical environment of our campus plays an important role in creating a welcoming, orderly, and Christ-honoring space for students, staff, and visitors. This position supports that mission by providing hands-on leadership and spiritual mentorship within the campus janitorial team, composed primarily of student workers. Position Title: Janitorial Cleaning Services Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Type: Full-time (with student work supervision) Reports To: Facilities Manager or Director of Campus Services Position Overview The Janitorial Cleaning Services Supervisor leads and manages the day-to-day cleaning and maintenance of Rio Grande Bible College’s campus facilities. In addition to ensuring clean, safe, and orderly environments, this position serves a dual role: providing spiritual leadership and professional mentoring to student workers within the janitorial team. This role requires both technical knowledge of janitorial best practices and a heart for discipling young adults in their work ethic, spiritual maturity, and service to the body of Christ. Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesCleaning and Maintenance Supervision • Oversee the daily cleaning of classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and other common areas. • Supervise and schedule student janitorial staff, ensuring proper coverage for all required cleaning areas. • Conduct regular walkthroughs and inspections to ensure cleaning standards are met consistently. • Train student workers in the use of cleaning equipment, techniques, and safe handling of chemicals, in accordance with OSHA and campus protocols. • Maintain cleanliness logs and work reports for accountability. Inventory and Resource Management • Monitor and manage cleaning supply inventory. • Submit requests for reordering supplies and ensure proper storage and use. • Maintain records related to equipment upkeep and custodial supply usage. Spiritual Leadership and Student Mentorship • Provide spiritual encouragement and biblical counsel to student workers during team meetings, one-on-one check-ins, and informal mentorship. • Encourage godly character and servant leadership in students’ work attitudes and relationships. • Coordinate and lead occasional devotional times or prayer gatherings within the team. • Evaluate student job performance with both practical feedback and spiritual care, as part of their personal and ministry formation. Program Administration and Institutional Coordination • Support institutional efforts to improve janitorial efficiency and effectiveness through documentation, systems, and communication. • Participate in annual reviews of janitorial procedures and student worker expectations. • Collaborate with student work supervisors to align practices across departments. • Assist in the evaluation of becoming a Work College, contributing custodial program data, supervisory insights, and student training documentation. Required Qualifications • Prior experience in janitorial services supervision, preferably in a school, ministry, or institutional setting. • Spanish fluency required; English proficiency preferred. • Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment use, and chemical safety. • Strong leadership, time management, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to supervise, mentor, and disciple student workers in a culturally and spiritually diverse environment. • Commitment to the doctrinal statement and spiritual mission of Rio Grande Bible Ministries. • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to changing needs. Preferred Qualifications • Experience supervising student workers or leading young adults in ministry or vocational training. • Knowledge of Work College models or similar student labor programs. • Familiarity with inventory management systems or digital scheduling tools. Spiritual Requirements • Must be a born-again believer, actively growing in faith and biblical obedience. • Must affirm and uphold the doctrinal statement of Rio Grande Bible Ministries. • Must participate in the spiritual life of the college community, including regular church attendance and ongoing personal discipleship. • Must demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit in professional and interpersonal relationships. • Must model a spirit of servant leadership and humility in interactions with students, staff, and visitors. Working Conditions • Campus-based position requiring physical stamina and regular movement. • Requires lifting and handling of cleaning equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs). • Work hours may include occasional evenings or weekends to support events or special campus needs. • Indoor and outdoor work environments. Position Classification This position is considered staff-level and is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act. While not classified as a full missionary role, the position includes intentional spiritual mentorship and participation in ministry formation.
