Title: Business Development Professional - Government Contracting (GSA) Reporting to: Senior Leadership Overview of Role The Business Development - Government Contracting role will be responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing new government contract opportunities. This role will involve building and maintaining relationships with government agencies, prime contractors, and industry partners; conducting market and competitive research; and collaborating with internal teams to develop winning proposals. The Business Development role will bring deep knowledge of federal, state, and local procurement processes, market analysis, and strategic planning to drive sustainable business growth. The Business Development - GSA individual will possess in-depth knowledge of federal procurement processes, including GSA schedules and SAM.gov, and will be responsible for driving growth through the strategic identification and capture of government opportunities. We believe that when we bring together the right people doing things the right way, we make progress for our clients and our communities Essential Functions • Develops and facilitates the proposal process for GSA clients with a proven track record in government contracting. Identify, qualify, and pursue federal, state, and local government contracting opportunities. • Develop and maintain relationships with government agencies, contracting officers, and prime contractors. • Track, analyze, and forecast industry and government spending trends relevant to company capabilities. • Manage and update registrations and profiles on SAM.gov, GSA Advantage, and other relevant platforms. • Lead proposal development efforts, including compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) regulations. • Collaborate with internal teams to create competitive bids and pricing strategies. • Monitor and analyze government procurement trends and upcoming solicitations. • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking forums. • Active in business development functions of the organization, which may require travel, participation in, and preparation of presentations to build business in the realm of GSA. • Development and review proposals for GSA, responds to primary RFPs and teaming RFPs: • Content and document development, including writing and editing to deliver a polished, branded submission. • Responsible for production coordination with other support services and delivery efforts. • Manage special deliverables. • Work closely with senior leadership and provide status reports when necessary. • Establish and maintain ongoing client relationships. • Conduct client Service Performance Evaluations • Collaborate with Corporate Marketing and Business Development to improve overall customer experience and satisfaction. • Contributes to team performance by collaboration and effective communication. • Contributes to and understands the client's desired project outcomes, identifies opportunities to add value to accomplish the desired outcomes. • Adds to team effort by accomplishing other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence. • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (Master's preferred). • Experience: • Minimum 3-5 years in business development within government contracting. • Hands-on experience with GSA schedules, SAM.gov, and federal acquisition processes. • Strong understanding of FAR/DFARS compliance. • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Skills Required: Understanding of construction industry; proficient in Microsoft Office; articulate; excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to travel; quickly learn and understand current and potential clients' businesses and develop relationships with those clients; dependability and strong work ethic with a passion for success. Experience in planning, organizing, communicating, and directing staff to achieve goals. Required to read and understand technical and non-technical documents related to marketing, fee proposals and contracts for the section's services and the ability to interface with both clients and staff. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: • Indoor office environment. May require work on site location when necessary. • Equipment used includes computers and standard office machines. • Essential physical tasks include: the ability to work on a computer and the ability to answer and speak on a telephone.
