Controller Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to oversee financial operations across a growing multi-unit hospitality group. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, driving operational efficiency, and supporting strategic growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a strong technical and analytical professional who also thrives as a mentor and collaborative leader, fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and innovation. Leadership & Collaboration • Lead and mentor accounting, payroll, and HR teams, setting clear expectations while offering guidance and support. • Promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture rooted in collaboration and accountability. • Provide training and development to strengthen both technical expertise and leadership skills. Financial Management & Reporting • Oversee preparation and review of all financial statements, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. • Manage daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks, including reconciliations across multiple entities. • Deliver actionable financial insights to leadership for data-driven decision-making. • Stay informed on industry trends and hospitality finance best practices. Cash Flow & Forecasting • Manage cash flow and analyze financial health to guide senior leadership decisions. • Oversee weekly bank transfers, intercompany balances, and payroll clearing accounts. • Provide financial perspectives for potential projects and expansion opportunities. Process Improvement & Efficiency • Continuously refine accounting and operational processes to improve accuracy and efficiency. • Develop and implement policies and procedure manuals to standardize financial practices. • Leverage technology solutions to optimize reporting and streamline operations. Compliance & Internal Controls • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations, including tax requirements. • Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and uphold financial integrity. • Lead internal and external audits, identifying opportunities for improvement and risk reduction. • Oversee insurance policies and risk management programs. Strategic Growth Support • Lead financial planning for new locations, acquisitions, and expansion projects. • Conduct financial analysis and modeling to evaluate growth opportunities. • Manage lease agreements, property taxes, and insurance across restaurant locations. Ad Hoc Projects & Analysis • Provide financial insights and reporting for special projects as directed by ownership. • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive company-wide improvements. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CMA strongly preferred). • 5–7 years of financial management experience, preferably within multi-unit hospitality or restaurants. • Strong technical accounting skills with expertise in GAAP, internal controls, and reporting. • Proficiency with financial systems (QuickBooks, ERP, or similar). • Proven leadership and team management experience. • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills. • Growth mindset with a desire for ongoing professional development.
