About the Position We’re looking for a Senior Software Developer to join our fully remote team. You’ll work alongside a small team of thoughtful, highly skilled engineers building SaaS products that help ensure exam integrity for tens of millions of students and educators worldwide. This is a broad, hands-on software engineering role where you'll contribute across our entire technology stack. You'll build features spanning backend services, cloud infrastructure, APIs, and web interfaces, collaborating closely with our Principal Software Engineer and fellow developers to deliver reliable, high-quality software. Our platform operates at a significant scale and sits at the intersection of performance, security, and trust, so the work is both technically challenging and highly impactful. We’re a team that jumps in wherever needed—no task is too big or too small. What You’ll Bring • 7+ years of experience building and shipping production-quality software • Strong backend development experience, with the ability to design scalable, secure services and APIs • Solid front-end skills and a focus on creating clean, intuitive user experiences • Comfortable working in established codebases while seeing opportunities for the next generation of systems • Experience working with cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS, and building systems that are reliable, observable, and scalable • An understanding of security best practices and designing systems where trust, integrity, and data protection are of critical importance • Comfort working across the stack and moving between different parts of a system as needed • Experience with relational databases and thoughtful data modeling • Experience using AI tools as aids during design, development, review and maintenance of complex systems • Familiarity with Linux-based environments and modern development workflows • A strong foundation in computer science and software design principles • A track record of owning meaningful pieces of software—from initial design through deployment and iteration • The ability to thrive in a small, agile team and balance multiple priorities Nice to Have • Experience building or operating high-scale SaaS platforms • Deeper experience designing and scaling systems in AWS • Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks and tooling • Experience with video, monitoring, or real-time systems • Mobile development experience • Experience working on remote or distributed teams • Cloud certifications (AWS or similar) What We Value • Ownership: You take responsibility and follow through • High standards: You care deeply about quality, performance, and security • Curiosity: You’re always learning and improving your craft • Pragmatism: You know when to aim for perfection and when to ship • Integrity: You understand the importance of building systems people can trust • Teamwork: You communicate clearly and support those around you • We’re proud of the role our platform plays in supporting fair and secure assessments—and we’re looking for someone who wants to help build technology that truly matters.
