Full Description

RLG is entering a new stage of growth driven by consistent metrics, faster decisions, and repeatable post-M&A integration. Today, our data lives across multiple platforms, vendors, and dashboards that are not aligned across the business.   The Director of Data & Analytics will define the enterprise data operating model while owning KPI definitions, data contracts, governance, and how the company measures performance. This role ensures that RLG owns the truth and quality of its data.   You will partner with IT, Finance, Commercial, and Operations to unify data sources, clarify ownership, and design consistent, trusted data flows that support scaling, operational efficiency, and future AI capabilities. This is a high-impact, foundational role responsible for establishing and executing the data strategy and standards that unlock enterprise-wide value from our data.   Key Responsibilities 1. Define the Enterprise Data Strategy * Build and maintain the RLG data strategy and roadmap. * Identify priority domains (Orders, Production, Purchasing, SKU/Cost Stack, Commercial). * Establish the long-term architecture strategy with the CIO and external partner(s). * Drive alignment between business needs and technical capabilities. 2. Own KPI Definitions and Metric Governance * Define and maintain the RLG KPI Dictionary. * Standardize metrics across Finance, Operations, and Commercial. * Resolve conflicting definitions and create enterprise-wide consistency. * Establish the approval workflow for changes to business metrics. 3. Build RLG’s Data Governance Framework * Define data contracts for core domains (SKU, Plant, Order, Customer, BOM). * Implement a data ownership model (Business Owners, Stewards, Engineers). * Establish policies for master data, metadata, lineage, and data quality. * Lead the Data Governance Council to drive accountability and adoption. 4. Partner Management & Delivery Oversight * Assess, hire, and oversee final external data platform partners. * Ensure partner work aligns with RLG standards and definitions. * Validate that pipelines, models, and dashboards adhere to RLG governance. * Prevent vendor sprawl and duplication of data assets. 5. Improve Data Quality at the Source * Work with business teams to fix root-cause data issues in ERP, MES, CRM, etc. * Design data quality rules, hire to build and monitor custom RLG solutions. * Partner with Data Stewards to ensure reliability of operational and financial data. 6. Support M&A Integration * Create the playbook for onboarding new acquisitions into RLG’s data model. * Define mappings, normalization rules, and integration checkpoints. * Ensure new data sources conform to enterprise standards from day one. 7. Drive Adoption & Usability * Work with functional teams to build dashboards based on business driving metrics. * Ensure business units adopt data dashboards and data products delivered. * Translate complex data concepts into practical, business-aligned stories. 8. Prepare RLG for AI/LLM Enablement * Ensure the data environment is structured for future LLM-based querying. * Create the governed semantic layer needed for AI accuracy and grounding. * Collaborate with partners to evaluate tools for natural-language insights.   Qualifications: Core Experience * 8–12+ years leading data strategy, governance, analytics, or enterprise BI programs. * Demonstrated success creating KPI standards, metric dictionaries, and governance frameworks. * Experience evaluating and managing external development partners for custom data solutions. * Proven ability to define strategic frameworks and engage partners to execute against them. * Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, & multi-plant operations. * Advanced degree in data science or computer science a plus. Technical Breadth * Familiarity with modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Fabric). * Understanding of ETL/ELT, pipelines, orchestration, and API-based integrations. * Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and metric layers. * Ability to read data models and partner effectively with engineers. Leadership & Influence * Strong cross-functional management across Finance, Ops, Commercial, and IT. * Strong communication and leadership skills. * Ability to simplify complexity and drive alignment across conflicting viewpoints. Mindset * Business-first thinker who understands how companies run and scale. * Comfortable in ambiguity, pragmatic, and focused on adoption. * Obsessed with data accuracy, definitions, and usability.
