## Key Role Overview The Operator operates heavy machinery at a recyclery, landfill, or transfer station in Los Angeles, performing equipment operation, inspections, minor maintenance, and material monitoring to ensure safe, efficient site operations. The role requires adherence to safety procedures, routine documentation of equipment condition, and coordination with maintenance and supervisors. ## Key Responsibilities - Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections of equipment; ensure windows, lights, mirrors and rear view camera are clean. - Operate equipment including excavator, compactor, bulldozer, forklift, front end loader and other equipment using proper techniques. - Monitor waste for signs of unacceptable material and follow site procedures for handling. - Follow all safety policies and procedures and continuously monitor equipment to ensure proper operation and minimal downtime. - Clean tracks or wheels on equipment and ensure equipment is properly cleaned, serviced and stored at the end of each shift. - Perform and document minor service on equipment; complete Equipment Condition Reports and report necessary repairs to supervisor and/or Maintenance Shop. - Complete other required forms and perform other job-related duties as assigned. ## Required Qualifications - Valid certificate(s) of training, as required, for use of equipment. - Minimum 2 years' experience in equipment operation. - Ability to follow safety procedures, complete documentation, and communicate repairs to supervision. ## Preferred Qualifications - None specified. ## Compensation & Benefits - Hourly pay: $29.15 per hour. - Comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage. - Health care and dependent care spending accounts (HSA/FSA). - Short- and long-term disability coverage. - Life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance. - Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and employee discount programs. - 401(k) plan with company match and Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). ## Additional Information - On-site position at a recyclery, landfill, or transfer station in Los Angeles, CA. - Reporting: report equipment issues to supervisor and/or Maintenance Shop; duties subject to change at company discretion. - Republic Services is an equal opportunity employer.
