Facilities & Maintenance Director Marin County, Ca.- onsite everyday About the role- The Maintenance & Facilities Director is responsible for overseeing all facility operations, construction coordination, and maintenance activities across a premier 12-acre private club property. This role leads the planning, execution, and supervision of preventive maintenance, repairs, capital improvements, and grounds operations while ensuring exceptional service standards for members and guests. The property includes multiple recreational, wellness, and hospitality amenities, including swimming pools, athletic courts, fitness facilities, dining venues, administrative offices, and landscaped outdoor spaces. This position requires a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise, proven supervisory experience, and the ability to manage complex facilities operations in a hospitality-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Facilities & Grounds Operations • Oversee day-to-day maintenance and operation of all buildings, systems, and grounds • Maintain property standards across: • Clubhouse and dining facilities • Administrative offices • Fitness and wellness center • Pools and water features • Tennis, pickleball, bocce, and outdoor recreation areas • Landscaping, hardscaping, and exterior structures • Ensure facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, and fully operational condition Maintenance & Preventive Programs • Develop, schedule, and execute a comprehensive preventive maintenance program • Manage work orders, inspections, and documentation using CMMS or work-order systems • Ensure timely completion of maintenance requests to established quality standards • Respond promptly to facility emergencies and after-hours issues Team Leadership & Supervision • Manage, supervise, and schedule maintenance and housekeeping staff • Recruit, train, coach, and mentor team members • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback • Create staffing schedules and adjust coverage to meet operational needs Vendor & Contractor Management • Manage relationships with outside contractors, service providers, and vendors • Obtain and review bids, proposals, and cost estimates • Negotiate pricing and service terms when appropriate • Monitor contractor performance to ensure work is completed on time and to quality standards Capital Projects & Planning • Assist leadership with researching, planning, and executing capital improvement projects • Coordinate construction activity, timelines, and vendor schedules • Track project progress and communicate updates to executive leadership • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance reporting for maintenance and capital projects Systems & Equipment Oversight • Oversee operation and maintenance of systems including: • HVAC and mechanical systems • Electrical distribution and lighting • Plumbing systems • Pool equipment and water systems • Compressed air systems • Building automation and controls • Identify recurring system failures and recommend long-term corrective solutions Compliance & Safety • Ensure compliance with all applicable: • Building codes • Safety regulations • Local, state, and federal requirements • Enforce safety policies and promote safe work practices • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and compliance documentation Member & Guest Experience • Deliver exceptional service to members, guests, and employees • Respond professionally and efficiently to service requests and concerns • Support an environment that enhances the overall club experience Qualifications Experience & Education • Minimum 5+ years of facilities or maintenance leadership experience • Background in one or more of the following strongly preferred: • Electrical • HVAC • Plumbing • Mechanical systems • Construction or building maintenance • At least 2 years of HVAC systems experience preferred • Prior supervisory or management experience required • High school diploma or equivalent required • Technical certifications or licenses (HVAC, electrical, general contractor, etc.) strongly preferred • Valid driver’s license required Technical Skills • Strong knowledge of: • Building construction methods • Mechanical and electrical systems • Preventive maintenance programs • Blueprint and technical drawing interpretation • Experience with: • CMMS / work order systems • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) • Email and scheduling systems Skills & Abilities • Strong organizational and project management skills • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Professional, calm, and service-oriented demeanor • Ability to lead teams with minimal supervision • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability Physical Requirements • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions Work Schedule • Full-time position • Flexible schedule required • Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays as needed • Typical schedule: 45–50 hours per week
