RemX is looking to fill a Onsite Medical EMR Record Specialist Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8am-4:30pm Duration of Assignment: 3+ months Key Responsibilities: • Process and manage Release of Information (ROI) requests in accordance with HIPAA, state laws, and organizational policies. • Retrieve, review, and deliver medical records using EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech. • Ensure accurate documentation and timely response to patient, legal, insurance, and third-party requests. • Maintain strict confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI). • Audit ROI logs and EMR access reports to ensure compliance and identify discrepancies. • Collaborate with Health Information Management (HIM), IT, and clinical teams to resolve record-related issues. • Train staff on EMR navigation, ROI procedures, and data privacy best practices. • Support EMR system upgrades, testing, and implementation of new features. • Generate and analyze reports on ROI volume, turnaround times, and compliance metrics. • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance ROI and EMR workflows. Qualifications : • Experience with legal and insurance-related medical record requests. • Familiarity with document imaging systems and electronic faxing tools. • Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical workflows. • Analytical skills for report generation and data interpretation. • Certification in ROI or Health Information (e.g., RHIT, CHPS, CRIS) is a plus. • Minimum 2 years of experience in ROI processing and EMR systems in a healthcare setting. • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical record confidentiality. • Proficiency in EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar platforms).
