Company Overview Red 6 is an innovative Augmented Reality (AR) technology startup leading the way in synthetic air combat training. Our primary technology, supporting our ATARS product, enables pilots to simulate the cognitive challenges of flying while accessing realistic, scalable training in dynamic outdoor environments. Job Summary Our ideal Mechanical Hardware Test Engineer will have an aptitude, ambition, and attitude to determine compliance with device specifications and their functionality. As a Red 6 Mechanical Hardware Test Engineer, you will design, implement, and execute plans to test computer hardware and optical systems. You will work closely with design engineers, partners, and vendors to ensure that hardware products meet specified requirements and are free from errors. Key Responsibilities • Provide on-site technical support for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of ATARS. • Designing, developing, and executing mechanical test plans for computer hardware, related equipment, and associated mounting equipment. • Creating test plans and equipment, implementing, and monitoring test processes, and completing hardware product validations • Establishing test tool requirements and recording test results. • Providing technical support to technicians for various testing tasks. • Designing mechanical test fixtures and test tools for design review and verification • Using a variety of debugging tools to carry out failure analysis. • Developing hardware validation plans and conducting functional and mechanical verification of products. • Debugging and testing manufacturing issues. • Interfacing with testing laboratories and suppliers for the development and cost requirements. • Travel up to 10% of the time. Experience, Skills and Required Qualifications • Must have a bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM field from an accredited institution. • 5+ years of experience as a mechanical-focused test engineer • Experience with sensor equipment such as accelerometers and thermocouples, • Experience in the aviation domain is a significant advantage. • Experience with mechanical design software such as Creo, Solidworks, or similar. • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. • Command line and Linux experience is a plus. • This position may require a security clearance. To obtain clearance, employees must show proof of US Citizenship.
