Company Description Recovery Café San José (RCSJ) is a supportive community focused on empowering individuals to heal and recover from trauma, addiction, homelessness, and mental health challenges. The Café provides members with access to hot meals, weekly Recovery Circles, life and job skills classes, group activities, and connections to vital resources like housing and employment support. Membership is free and open to all who meet a few basic requirements, and the Café emphasizes the inherent worth and potential of every individual. RCSJ exists to foster a strong sense of belonging and provide the tools necessary for personal growth and sustainable recovery. Role Description This is a part-time, on-site role for a Board of Director with Recovery Café San José, located in San Jose, CA. The role will involve attending regular board meetings, participating in decision-making processes, and shaping the strategic direction of the organization. Responsibilities include supporting fundraising efforts, ensuring fiscal and operational accountability, championing RCSJ's mission, and contributing to community outreach efforts. Board members are expected to collaborate with other directors, staff, and stakeholders to help sustain and advance the organization's impact. Qualifications • Leadership and governance skills, including ability to set strategic direction and oversee organizational policies • Experience in community outreach, nonprofit management, or relationship building • Knowledge or experience in fundraising, donor relations, or financial management • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to foster collaboration • Passion for supporting recovery from trauma, addiction, mental health challenges, and homelessness • Commitment to the mission and values of Recovery Café San José • Experience in related fields such as mental health, addiction recovery, or social services is a plus • Availability to attend meetings and actively participate in board responsibilities
