Part to full time role Starting salary, depending on experience: $65,000 Schedule: Flexible, bi-weekly shows, rehearsals on off-weeks. About Real Dog Studios Real Dog Studios is the emerging cultural and creative arm of Real Dog Box and the Feed Real Institute. Our mission is to explore the connection between dogs, humans, and philosophy through live performances and experimental storytelling. Based in San Diego, we aim to stage original productions that may later evolve into recorded or online projects. Position Overview The Real Dog Theater & Studio Manager is a hands-on role dedicated to producing our flagship live show: a bi-weekly, episodic performance with an ensemble of dog-characters who gather at the same park. This position involves coordinating every aspect of staging the show, from sourcing local talent to managing rehearsals and performance logistics. While this role does not require technical video production expertise, it demands strong project management, ties to the San Diego arts scene, and the ability to bring together creative collaborators to deliver a consistent, high-quality production. Key Responsibilities Local Talent & Network Building • Leverage your San Diego arts/theater community connections to source actors and manage them in our shows. • Cultivate relationships with local arts organizations, community groups, and potential collaborators. Production Management • Oversee the full lifecycle of the bi-weekly live show, from rehearsals to performance execution. • Ensure the core creative device is upheld: • Dual Perception: Outsiders see the ensemble as dogs, but the audience sees them as self-aware humans in dog suits. • Manage rehearsals, ensuring artistic direction is respected while operations stay on track. • Manage production schedules, rehearsal timelines, budgets, and performance-day logistics. • Coordinate with creative leads to ensure story continuity and thematic cohesion across episodes. Community Engagement • Build audiences through local outreach, grassroots marketing, and partnerships. • Represent Real Dog Studios within the San Diego arts scene. • Explore opportunities to turn successful live performances into recorded or online content. Requirements • Proven experience managing live theater, performance, or arts projects. • Strong ties to the San Diego arts community (theater, performance, or live event networks). • Excellent organizational skills; able to juggle multiple moving parts with precision. • Skilled in managing people, schedules, and budgets. • Strong communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working with both artists and business leaders. Ideal: • Passion for experimental storytelling, philosophy, and/or themes related to dogs and human-animal relationships. • Experience marketing or promoting live events. Email ruby@real.dog with your experience and a short paragraph of why you're the perfect fit, and include samples if your work if possible.
