Position Summary The Associate Medical Director/Associate Director, Medical Strategy (AMD/ADMS) is a leader with proven scientific rigor, strategic insights, and business acumen who enjoys working in a dynamic medical education agency environment. This individual plays a pivotal role in the Real Chemistry Medical Communications division by helping clients deliver powerful medical stories that bring scientific data to life and change healthcare professionals’ (HCPs) behaviors. The AMD/ADMS understands HCP, payer, and consumer/patient insights to provide innovative solutions that align to clients’ strategies. This person guides clients by infusing scientific evidence into a relevant and compelling brand story. The AMD/ADMS also serves as a lead member of cross-functional team(s), planning and developing deliverables of the highest quality on time and within budget. This is a hybrid role, based in any of our US offices—including New York City, Boston, Chicago, Carmel, or San Francisco—or remotely within the US, depending on team and business needs. This role will regularly work Eastern or Central business hours. Functional Responsibilities Oversee and develop a team of Senior Medical Writer(s)/Medical Writer(s) within assigned therapeutic area(s) and client account(s) Counsel and serve as integral strategic partner to clients in the development of various brand/medical strategies and in the design and analysis of related medical education and marketing communication tactics and deliverables Collaborate with Client Services to develop and maintain statements of work, project briefs, and risk registers as well as any relevant documents/reports related to financial forecasting, monitoring, and analysis across assigned accounts Review and revise all medical contents to ensure scientific integrity/accuracy and alignment with client/brand strategies Understand project scopes and statuses and partner with account/project leads to ensure proper budgeting, resourcing, communications, processes, quality, and timelines Collaborate with the Senior Vice President, US Medical and the Executive Director, US Medical Operations to ensure appropriate resource staffing, meet team billability goals, and participate in staff hiring process for assigned account(s) Serve as scientific consultant in areas of expertise, and forge/maintain relationships with external experts and scientific institutions to inform client strategies and corporate visions Participate in business development efforts and co-lead activities to foster organic growth of assigned client accounts Perform any other duties as reasonably assigned; duties and responsibilities may be removed, modified, or added by leadership at any time as business or operations warrant Qualifications and Skills Advanced degree (eg, MD, PhD, PharmD) in a healthcare-related field with ≥5 years of experience in medical education; scientific/research design, evaluation, and analysis; or clinical experience/insights required; and experience in medical communications in a pharmaceutical company or a medical communications agency preferred Management experience required Respiratory experience required, experience with asthma, CRS, or COPD preferred Advanced leadership skills to achieve results in areas of responsibility, develop collaborative partnerships with other senior leaders across the agency, and inform and influence decisions across the organization Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Acrobat Pro as well as familiarity with online proofing platforms (eg, Workfront Proof, Ziflow) and Veeva Vault Keen interest in applying technology and AI best practices to enhance deliverables quality Core Competencies Whether acting in a promotional or nonpromotional nature, we serve as envoys for our clients’ messages, a resource for their customers, and stewards of the money they invest with us.
