Execute and manage equity trades and related operational tasks within a trading firm.
1-2 years trading experience with equity or balanced portfolios, strong organizational and communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office.
The candidate will join a growing asset management firm and be responsible for a variety of trading duties related to the implementation of our equity strategies. The candidate will become part of our Chicago-based Equity Operations Team, working with our Senior Trader, overseen by the Head of Operations in RAM’s New York City home office. This role is hybrid between our Chicago Loop office location and remote. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Prepare trades based on instructions from RAM’s equity portfolio management team • Accurately enter trades on the relevant order management system after all necessary approvals are obtained • Perform all necessary pre-trade compliance checks • Transmit trade orders to the firm’s brokers and platform sponsors; monitor execution to ensure smooth and efficient filling of orders • Accurately enter trade details on firm’s trade blotter and prepare any necessary files for settlement processing • Maintain complete and accurate records of all trading activity • Ensure adherence to firm’s established trade and broker rotation policies • Ensure trades are aggregated and, when necessary, partially filled consistent with internal policies • Implement new accounts using models previously approved by the portfolio management team and ensure that existing accounts remain consistent with these models • Prepare trades as necessary to invest client deposits, raise cash for client withdrawals and harvest gains or losses • Update and maintain the model portfolios provided to the firm’s clients that utilize a model delivery product • Assist with the documentation and logging of any failed trades or trade errors • Prepare internal reporting and gather data for compliance review • Understand our end-to-end infrastructure in order to help trouble-shoot client issues • Manage cyclical periods of higher volume work • Critically analyze information and make recommendations for process improvements • Share your knowledge and become a part of the team’s success; work both independently and in a team environment to maximize productivity and efficiency • Exhibit a positive, can-do attitude with inquisitive curiosity • Take ownership, act with a sense of urgency and exceed expectations by communicating effectively Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Operations, related field or related experience • Minimum 1-2 years of experience trading equity or balanced portfolios based on models provided by portfolio management team • Strong aptitude for strategic thinking and tactical execution • Detail-oriented and well organized • Excellent written and verbal communications skills; ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) • Experience with SS&C EzeCastle OMS preferred • Experience with InvestCloud APL preferred • Experience with major intermediary platforms (e.g. UBS, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, Vestmark, Envestnet) preferred We are an equal opportunity employer that does not discriminate on the basis of actual or perceived race, color, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, sex or gender (including pregnancy, childbirth, related medical conditions and lactation), gender identity or gender expression (including transgender status), sexual orientation, marital status, military service and veteran status, disability, protected medical condition as defined by applicable state or local law, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws and ordinances.
