Full Description

About Rainier Software Solutions Rainier Software Solutions is an engineering firm delivering secure, scalable, and mission-critical software to government and enterprise clients. We bring Silicon Valley engineering excellence to public sector missions, with a team whose experience spans Tesla, Adobe, Snap, T-Mobile, Starbucks, and other industry leaders. We are not a body shop. We are a principal-led firm that values deep technical skill, clear communication, and ownership over ticket-punching. If you are the kind of engineer who cares about how systems are built, not just that they ship, you will fit in here. We are currently seeking experienced Software Engineers to join our contractor network for upcoming federal, state, and commercial engagements. What You Will Work On Our project work spans several high-impact domains. Depending on the engagement, you may contribute to: • Full-stack application development using modern frameworks (React, Next.js, Node.js, Python, TypeScript) with secure, scalable backend architectures • Cloud infrastructure design and implementation on AWS (ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudFront, IAM) using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation) • AI and data engineering, including private-cloud LLM integration, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, and secure ETL workflows • Legacy system modernization: migrating aging codebases and monolithic architectures into modern, maintainable, cloud-native platforms • DevSecOps and CI/CD pipeline engineering: building automated testing, deployment, and security scanning into every release cycle • Compliance-aware development supporting NIST 800-53, SOC2, Section 508/WCAG accessibility, and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes No two engagements look the same. You will have the opportunity to work across the stack and across problem domains. Who We Are Looking For We are looking for engineers who are strong across fundamentals and adaptable across technologies. You should bring: • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience • Strong proficiency in at least one modern stack (React/Node/Python/TypeScript or equivalent) • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP also valued) • Comfort working independently with minimal oversight and communicating clearly in writing • A track record of shipping production systems, not just prototypes • Experience with version control, code review, and CI/CD workflows Bonus (Not Required): • Experience with government or public sector projects • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, Developer, etc.) • Familiarity with FedRAMP, NIST, or ATO compliance frameworks • Active security clearance (any level) • Experience with AI/ML, RAG architectures, or LLM integration Engagement Details • Contract Type: 1099 Independent Contractor or Corp-to-Corp (C2C) • Location: Fully remote (US-based required) • Duration: Project-based, typically 3 to 12+ months • Rate: $75 to $150/hour depending on experience and specialization • Schedule: Full-time preferred; part-time considered for specialized roles Engagements may begin immediately or within the next 1 to 3 months depending on contract timelines. Pay: $50.00 - $125.00 per hour Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week Benefits: • Flexible schedule • Professional development assistance • Work from home Application Question(s): • What is your desired hourly contracting rate? Experience: • Software Engineering: 1 year (Preferred) Security clearance: • Confidential (Preferred) Work Location: Remote
