Job Title: Clinical Research Nurse II – Cancer Contract Type: Temporary Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts, flexibility to start at 7:00 AM depending on patient scheduling Hours per Week: 40 Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Clinical Research Nurse II (CRN II) to join the Cancer Clinical Trials Program. This is a hybrid role focused on research trial activities—not direct patient care—with a primary responsibility for supporting clinical trial operations, patient recruitment, and protocol adherence for oncology research studies. The CRN II works closely with the Medical Director, Administrative Director, and clinical research coordinators to ensure smooth execution of interventional trials. The role involves patient interaction, protocol compliance, clinical coordination, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities Administrative: • Support principal investigators with clinical trial protocol review and development. • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to develop protocol-specific materials. Research: • Assist in identifying, recruiting, and registering patients for clinical trials. • Coordinate patient scheduling for lab tests, imaging, admissions, and clinic visits. • Monitor test results and ensure data integrity and compliance with study timelines. • Partner with research coordinators, disease group teams, and external organizations to complete clinical research activities. Clinical: • Oversee patient enrollment, treatment per protocol, and study follow-up. • Collaborate with care teams (infusion, radiation, surgical) to meet patient needs. • Provide detailed protocol education to patients and families, ensuring culturally sensitive communication. • Collect and manage study specimens, administer medications as required, and document patient encounters accurately. • Serve as a clinical resource for staff, provide in-service education, and ensure adherence to regulatory and patient safety standards. • Manage a patient caseload of approximately 4–6 study participants per day, 4 days a week. Professional Development: • Engage in continuous learning and participate in professional organizations. • Contribute to presentations, reports, and publications related to clinical research. • Participate in committees and meet all annual evaluation requirements. Qualifications Education: • Graduate of an accredited nursing program. • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required. Licenses/Certifications: • Active RN license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Experience: • 3–5 years of research or clinical research nursing experience required. • Oncology clinical trial experience strongly preferred. Skills: • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and REDCap databases. • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. • Knowledge of research regulations, IRB processes, and human subject protection. • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and interdisciplinary teams. • Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.
