About the Role: Our client is seeking a Software Engineer Tech Lead to oversee the engineering team responsible for the stability, performance, and scalability of the platform. As a Tech Lead, you will play a critical role in leading technical initiatives, partnering with cross-functional teams, and ensuring that the platform continues to evolve in line with both business needs and user demands. You will be leading the team to ensure the platform remains efficient, performant, and scalable, while driving impactful product features. Responsibilities: • Lead a product squad focused on driving technical stability and delivering key business outcomes through continuous platform refinement. • Collaborate with business stakeholders to create product solutions that enhance user experience while achieving financial objectives. • Design and implement technical innovations that improve the functionality and efficiency of the ticketing system. • Explore and integrate GenAI technologies to enhance platform capabilities and optimize business processes. • Ensure the platform leverages data infrastructure investments to maximize performance and scalability. • Improve platform observability to proactively monitor performance and reduce downtime. • Review and optimize platform integrations to meet scaling goals and ensure operational efficiency. • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers while fostering a collaborative team environment. • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code to support long-term system stability. • Manage the backlog, ensuring that technical improvements align with business objectives and deliver measurable impact. What We’re Looking for: • Experience in a high-traffic e-commerce environment with a focus on scalable and performant systems. • Expertise in data engineering, platform optimization, and system integration. • Experience with GenAI integration and working with large-scale, data-intensive systems. • Strong knowledge of performance profiling, design patterns, and best practices. • Proficiency in core technologies like Java, Python, or Typescript. • Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders. • Passion for building scalable, maintainable, and efficient systems. • Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Nice to Have: • Experience with AWS and Terraform provisioning. • Familiarity with complex integrations, especially ticketing systems, payment platforms, and fraud detection tools. • Experience with GraphQL and/or working with tools like PHP, Node.js, or Python. • Knowledge of CI/CD processes and Docker. Tech Stack: • Java, Python, TypeScript, Node.js, React/Next.js, AWS, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, Datadog Culture Fit: • Collaborative, outcome-driven, and excited to grow in a fast-paced, startup-like environment. Interview Process: • 10/15-minute phone call with the recruiter: Confirm HR answers, talk about company culture, and discuss the interview process. • 30-minute video call with VP of Engineering: Focus on behavioral questions and light tech questions to test knowledge level. • 1-hour coding interview (via Coderpad) with 2 Software Engineers: This round will test your ability to solve a real-world problem and express that solution with code. The interviewers will provide details at the beginning of the call, and you will be expected to explain your thinking and describe your solution in terms of time and space complexity. • 1-hour coding interview (via Coderpad) with 2 Software Engineers: A similar setup as the last round, but with a different test. • 90-minute onsite with VP of Engineering and 1 Senior Software Engineer: You'll tackle a real-world business challenge and demonstrate how you approach problem-solving from a product and business perspective. The session will also involve translating ideas into actionable steps by writing sample tickets. There will be a Q&A at the end where you can ask your questions. This is an opportunity to showcase your product thinking, collaboration style, and ability to connect business needs with practical execution. Salary Range: $180,000 - $210,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
