Job Area: Engineering Group, Engineering Group > CPU Engineering General Summary: Qualcomm’s Custom CPU Post-Silicon team is seeking highly skilled Tools and Automation Engineer to design and develop advanced automation frameworks and software tools that accelerate functional validation, power and performance Analysis, silicon characterization, and workload profiling for next-generation CPU platforms. This role is critical for enabling efficient workflows, accurate measurements, and actionable insights across complex validation environments. Key Responsibilities Automation Frameworks: Design and implement scalable automation solutions to streamline functional validation, power and performance analysis, silicon characterization, and workload characterization, including advanced measurements such as Vmin/Fmax analysis. These frameworks will enable efficient execution of complex test scenarios, automated data collection, and regression testing across diverse post-silicon environments. Tool Development: Build and maintain robust software tools for lab management, workload orchestration, and silicon debug support, ensuring seamless integration with hardware and validation workflows. Data Infrastructure: Develop systems for data acquisition, storage, and visualization of large-scale silicon test results, including power, thermal, and performance metrics, to support data-driven decision-making. CI/CD Integration: Create and optimize continuous integration and deployment pipelines for validation tools and automation scripts, ensuring rapid and reliable delivery. Lab Equipment Integration: Automate workflows involving advanced lab instruments such as Kratos, DAQ systems, Monsoon Power Meter, oscilloscopes, thermal chambers, and thermal controllers, enabling precise and repeatable measurements. Performance Optimization: Ensure tools and frameworks are efficient, reliable, and scalable, capable of handling high-volume workloads and complex validation scenarios. Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with hardware, firmware, and validation teams to define requirements, integrate solutions, and deliver high-quality automation infrastructure. Documentation & Standards: Maintain clear technical documentation, enforce coding standards, and establish best practices for long-term maintainability. What You Bring Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Experience: 5+ years in software development and automation for hardware validation or similar environments. Technical Skills: Strong programming skills in Python (primary), with experience in C/C++ for performance-critical components. Proficiency in Linux environments, shell scripting, and automation frameworks. Hands-on experience with lab instruments and protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, BMC, IPMI, Redfish). Familiarity with web technologies for dashboards (React, Angular, or similar). Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases and data visualization tools. Nice to Have Exposure to CPU architecture concepts, workload characterization, and performance analysis. Experience with instrument control frameworks and distributed automation systems. Knowledge of open-source tools for validation and benchmarking. Bonus Skills: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Knowledge of machine learning pipelines for predictive analysis. Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits: $122,500.00 - $183,700.00 The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
