Position: Technical Account Manager – Google Cloud Platform (GCP Commit Enterprise Agreement) Location: Remote (Preference for candidates based in the Northeast U.S.) Employment Type: Part-Time (Contract or Contract-to-Hire, with the possibility of Full-Time) Industry: Public Sector & Higher Education IT Services Compensation: Commensurate with Experience About Us We are a Public Sector and Higher Education IT Services firm that supports universities, research institutions, and public organizations in modernizing their technology environments through cloud, AI, and infrastructure transformation. Our boutique approach emphasizes hands-on engagement, customer care, and technical depth. Role Overview The Technical Account Manager (TAM) will play a pivotal role in supporting our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Enterprise Commit Agreement customers, primarily within the higher education and research community. This role bridges technical support, account management, and cloud operations—ensuring smooth onboarding, optimized usage, and successful collaboration between clients, Google, and our internal delivery teams. Key Responsibilities • Customer Engagement: Serve as the primary technical liaison for GCP commit customers within research and higher education. • Support Coordination: Assist with GCP support tickets, escalation, and issue resolution, coordinating between customers, Google support, and assigned Google TAMs. • Onboarding & Enablement: Guide customers through onboarding of new projects, including IAM setup, project structure, and resource organization. • GPU/TPU Advisory: Provide technical guidance and best practices for selecting and deploying GPU and TPU resources to support research workloads. • Billing & Consumption Tracking: Customize the Google Cloud Billing Portal and dashboards for tracking spend, managing budgets, and optimizing resource allocation. • Reporting & Governance: Monitor consumption, produce usage summaries, and assist customers with billing visibility and cost optimization efforts. • Collaboration: Participate in periodic meetings with client teams and Google representatives to ensure alignment, surface insights, and maintain strong partnerships. Qualifications • 5+ years of experience in a technical account management, cloud consulting, or customer success role. • Strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform services, especially billing, IAM, and compute (GPU/TPU, VM, and AI/ML workloads). • Experience working within research or higher education environments, with an understanding of how GCP supports research computing and academic projects. • Proven ability to manage customer escalations and coordinate with Google TAMs, Support Engineers, or Customer Experience teams. • Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through skills. • Familiarity with cloud cost management, tagging, and billing structures. • Self-starter mindset with a boutique, customer-first attitude. Preferred Skills • Familiarity with GCP AI/ML and compute resource optimization. • Hands-on experience using Google Cloud Console for billing configuration and budget tracking. • Prior exposure to public sector or higher education procurement frameworks. • Knowledge of Cloud Identity or Workspace administration is a plus.
