QC Ware Corp. is seeking a talented and passionate Backend Engineer with DevOps experience to join their engineering team supporting Promethium, their molecular discovery platform. The role involves designing and building backend services and APIs while managing deployment, operation, and scaling in production environments. Responsibilities • Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that power the Promethium platform • Implement scalable, maintainable service architectures with a focus on performance, reliability, and security • Collaborate with product, ML, and frontend engineers to define and deliver backend functionality • Write high-quality, testable code (primarily in Python) and participate in code reviews • Improve backend observability through logging, metrics, and tracing • Own the deployment and production lifecycle of backend services you build • Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS to support backend workloads • Manage and operate containerized services on Kubernetes (EKS), including deployments, scaling, and troubleshooting • Automate infrastructure provisioning and service configuration using Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable backend releases • Apply security best practices and contribute to compliance efforts (e.g., ISO 27001) • Troubleshoot production issues and work with the team to continuously improve system reliability • Document service architecture, operational patterns, and runbooks • Participate in a shared on-call rotation focused on service ownership, not just infrastructure Skills • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent practical experience) • 3+ years of backend software engineering experience, with production systems • Strong proficiency in Python and backend service development • Experience deploying and operating backend services on AWS • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments • Experience using Terraform or similar IaC tools • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.) • Solid understanding of containerization (Docker) and service-oriented architectures • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across engineering disciplines • Experience designing distributed systems or platform services • Background working in SOC 2 or ISO 27001–compliant environments • Experience with GPU-backed workloads, ML platforms, or HPC systems • Familiarity with GitOps tools (ArgoCD, Flux) • Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) • Exposure to service meshes (Istio, Linkerd, Kong Mesh) • Experience with GCP or Azure in addition to AWS Company Overview • QC Ware is a quantum computing software company building enterprise solutions.
