Full Description

We’re in an unbelievably exciting area of tech and are fundamentally reshaping the data storage industry. Here, you lead with innovative thinking, grow along with us, and join the smartest team in the industry. This type of work—work that changes the world—is what the tech industry was founded on. So, if you're ready to seize the endless opportunities and leave your mark, come join us. About the Role We are seeking a Global Solutions Engineer to bridge the worlds of engineering, open source, and customer solutions for Portworx and Pure Storage’s Cloud Native Business Unit (CNBU). This role is designed for someone who thrives at the intersection of software engineering, infrastructure architecture, and open source community leadership. Unlike traditional Solution Architecture or Engineering roles, this position carries three distinct responsibilities: Engineering & Infrastructure Leadership – Design, validate, and guide Kubernetes-native architectures across cloud and on-prem environments, ensuring Portworx solutions deliver consistent value for mission-critical workloads. Open Source & CNCF Advocacy – Act as a technical champion for Portworx in the CNCF ecosystem, driving our participation in open source projects, contributing code, and establishing a two-way feedback loop between the community and our product teams. Customer-Driven Development – Partner directly with customers to identify emerging needs, rapidly prototype enhancements, and deliver engineering solutions to unblock adoption and drive innovation. This is a global, senior-level position focused on shaping customer outcomes, product direction, and community presence. Key Responsibilities Architecture & Solutioning – Collaborate with enterprise customers to define architectures for Kubernetes workloads, databases, and stateful applications using Portworx solutions. Community Leadership – Represent Portworx within the CNCF ecosystem, actively contribute to open source projects, and ensure customer insights are reflected back into product development. Rapid Engineering & Prototyping – Build lightweight software features, patches, or integrations to address urgent customer challenges or test new product directions. Product Feedback Loop – Influence product roadmaps by distilling community signals, open source innovations, and customer needs into actionable engineering requirements. Thought Leadership & Advocacy – Speak at industry events, contribute to blogs/whitepapers, and establish Portworx as a leader in cloud-native storage and Kubernetes. Partner & Ecosystem Engagement – Work with cloud providers, CNCF projects, and technology partners to ensure seamless integration and adoption. Skills & Experience Strong background in Kubernetes, cloud-native platforms, and containerized infrastructure. Hands-on engineering expertise in Go, Python, or other modern languages for building integrations or rapid prototypes. Experience contributing to or leading open source projects, ideally within the CNCF ecosystem. Proven ability to design and deploy resilient architectures across multi-cloud and hybrid environments. Familiarity with the Kubernetes ecosystem (OpenShift, Rancher, KubeVirt, service meshes, operators). Knowledge of automation and DevOps tooling (Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines). Strong understanding of observability and monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk). Customer-facing skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions. Exceptional communication skills for engaging developers, operators, and executives. #LI-REMOTE Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location.
