Software Development Engineer - Java API Position: Software Development Engineer - API Location: Redmond, Washington Duration: Contract Job ID: 172611 Role type: Remote (PST times) Employment type: W2 only (USC/GC) – No c2c Job Overview This role involves designing, building, and maintaining components and services of Project Kuiper’s Customer eCommerce Services. The position requires developing software applications and services for an advanced global communications service, collaborating with various engineering teams to gather requirements, design, develop, deploy, and operate critical e-Commerce software, and building e-Commerce functions on AWS infrastructure while implementing best practices for software development. Responsibilities • Design and implement communications components, applications, and services. • Partner with the Satellite, Networks, and Security engineering teams. • Design components, services, and relevant data models. • Collaborate with engineers across the organization to gather requirements, design, develop, deploy, and operate critical e-Commerce software. • Build e-Commerce functions on AWS infrastructure and help implement best practices for software development. • Develop code, build CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and dashboards for monitoring system health. • Assist engineers in building solutions required for provisioning and operating an Internet service provider. Qualifications • 4+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship). • 3+ years of design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, scaling). • Experience programming with at least one software programming language. • Experience managing Java-based SDKs, AWS-based development, API design, and JSON. • Proficiency in Java programming language and MVC framework. • Expertise in AWS cloud-native skills and AWS tooling. • API creation/JSON – Restful web services and possibly GraphQL. • Knowledge of AWS API Gateway. Preferred Qualifications • Experience integrating financial applications and accounting solutions (e.g., Oracle). • 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent. Compensation Pay Range: $65,000 – $70,000 per year. Compensation is determined by scope, complexity, location and market factors.
