Tax Attorney (State & Local Tax – SALT) Taxation Practice Group | Top AmLaw 100 Law Firm A nationally recognized Top AmLaw 100 law firm is seeking an experienced Tax Attorney to join its growing Taxation Practice Group, with a primary focus on State and Local Tax (SALT) matters. This firm continues to expand rapidly, reporting $1.28B in gross revenue in 2024 and recently naming 18 new partners: creating outstanding opportunities for long-term career growth. This is a team-based, collegial, and client-focused environment where attorneys are supported in building sophisticated practices and meaningful client relationships. Key Responsibilities: • Advise clients on all facets of multistate taxation, including income, franchise, and sales/use tax matters • Handle state tax controversy matters, audits, and appeals • Provide tax planning and structuring support for transactions and reorganizations • Assist with remediation of state tax exposure in M&A and other transactional contexts • Collaborate with cross-practice teams on complex client matters • (Preferred) Experience with unclaimed property and escheatment matters Requirements: • 5–9 years of substantial experience in SALT matters • JD from an ABA-accredited law school • Strong academic credentials • Prior AmLaw 100 experience or better strongly preferred • Active Bar membership in good standing (or ability to obtain timely admission in the office jurisdiction) • Demonstrated strength in client service, project management, and senior-level review • Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent work ethic • Client-focused and team-oriented mindset Compensation & Benefits: • Salary Range: $310,000 – $370,000 (commensurate with experience) • Comprehensive benefits package including: • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance • 401(k) Retirement Plan • Life & Disability Insurance • Adoption Assistance • Backup Dependent Care Remote / Hybrid Work Policy: While the firm supports continued flexibility, firm leadership asks attorneys to be in the office at least four days per week, unless a specific business or personal reason requires otherwise.
