The Shelborne introduces four vibrant food & beverage destinations, a spacious pool and garden lounge, a private beach club, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and more than 15,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor event space. Position Overview We are seeking a highly connected and results-driven Account Director, New York to represent The Shelborne by Proper in the New York market. This role is a remote, market-based position focused exclusively on driving new, incremental business for Shelborne across Group, Events, and Transient segments. As a hunter role, the Account Director will carry clear revenue goals and be measured on proactive production. The position requires a strong network of relationships with New York’s top travel agencies, corporate accounts, event companies, PR agencies, and brands with in-house event teams. The Account Director will create and qualify leads, advance them through the sales pipeline, and partner closely with the on-property team in Miami to ensure seamless conversion and execution. Responsibilities Sales & Business Development • Proactively generate group, event, and transient leads that align with Shelborne's positioning and revenue goals • Leverage established relationships within New York’s corporate, leisure, entertainment, and event communities • Develop and execute targeted sales plans across all segments, with emphasis on incremental, hunter-driven production • Actively participate in NYC-based tradeshows, client events, and sales missions to strengthen Shelborne’s presence in the market • Conduct regular in-person sales calls, presentations, and entertainment with high-value accounts Account Management & Collaboration • Act as the lead point of contact for Shelborne in the New York market, qualifying opportunities and ensuring smooth handoff to Miami-based sales and events teams • Provide regular market insights and competitive intelligence to the DOSM at Shelborne • Support on-property site inspections and fam trips for NYC-based clients when appropriate Revenue & Performance • Carry an assigned revenue goal across all segments, tracked against proactive, incremental business • Maintain detailed records of prospecting, pipeline, and production in Delphi.fdc or Salesforce • Deliver timely reports on market activity, lead generation, and progress against targets Candidate Profile Experience & Background • 5–7 years of hotel sales experience, with at least 2 years in a proactive manager or director-level role • Proven track record of securing new group, event, and/or transient business in a competitive market • Strong existing network within New York’s corporate, event, and luxury travel communities • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, or related field preferred Skills & Attributes • Hunter mentality with strong prospecting and closing skills • Polished communicator with credibility at the executive and agency level • Strong commercial acumen with understanding of revenue management and segmentation • Highly organized and self-directed; able to thrive in a remote, market-based role • Proficient in Delphi.fdc, Salesforce, or equivalent CRM tools • Willingness to travel to Miami for periodic team meetings and client site visits Compensation • Base Salary: $120,000 – $130,000 • Incentive: Uncapped bonus based on incremental revenue production Company Overview Proper Hospitality is a diverse team of passionate individuals who share a common love for hotels and the art of hospitality.
