Position: Compliance Assistant Location: Remote (preference for Chicago, IL applicants) Hourly Wage: $16 - $23 Type of Role: Part-time, up to 30 hours per week Start Date: ASAP End Date: 11/30/2026 Position Summary: The Compliance Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the organization’s financial integrity by assisting with the day-to-day fundraising operations. This position requires someone that is highly detail-oriented and organized when confronted with large amounts of data. The role helps ensure accurate recordkeeping, reporting, auditing, and data coordination across fundraising and business operations. Additionally, the role is instrumental in responding to external inquiries from stakeholders and donors. This includes following up with email and voicemails, responding to frequently asked questions, and elevating important or urgent concerns to the President, Treasurer, or other PTP staff. This is a part-time, hourly position, and may be remote from anywhere in the US. Employees may work up to 30 hours per week, with hours are available during evening or weekends, though a consistent and regular schedule is expected. There are no formal education requirements for this position. People of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities: Database and Records Management Maintain and regularly update the organization’s fundraising database, ensuring accuracy and completeness of donation records. Reconcile fundraising data with contribution records to ensure compliance with Federal Election Commission (FEC) regulations. Manage and organize digital and physical files related to contributions and disbursements, ensuring easy accessibility for audits and reporting purposes. Reporting, Auditing, and Compliance Support Conduct periodic internal audits of fundraising and financial data to ensure accuracy Monitor contribution limits and donation sources to flag potential compliance concerns. Help maintain audit-ready records, identifying and resolving discrepancies in coordination with the Executive and HR/Business Operations teams. Donor and Supporter Inquiries Manage and respond with kindness, compassion, and precision to donor and supporter inquiries via email and phone Elevate important or urgent concerns from stakeholders and donors to appropriate PTP staff Complete donor research and maintain donor records as needed to resolve concerns presented by supporters Additional Responsibilities Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant campaign finance and nonprofit compliance regulations Create procedure documents and clarify processes as needed Qualifications 1–2 years of relevant administrative, compliance, or political operations experience preferred. Experience with CRM systems or fundraising databases (e.g., NGP VAN, EveryAction) Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and data entry protocols.
