It sits on 90 acres in Sedalia and features more than 900,000 sq. ft of facilities and equipment, including the only independent Level-IV aeroderivative depot in North America and a hydrogen-ready string-test facility that enables full-speed, full-load testing. Our Houston, Texas, office is a strategic satellite positioned near our own peaking-power installations. Position Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Turbine Repair/Manufacturing Engineer Co-op to join our engineering team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the inspection, repair, and manufacturing processes for industrial gas and steam turbines. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and technicians to solve real-world challenges, improve repair workflows, and ensure high-quality product output. This is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, technical environment. Internship Duration: The internship is expected to run from Spring-Summer 2026. Please note that dates are tentative and may be adjusted based on project needs or candidate availability. Reports To: Engineering Manager Work Location: 6401 North Eldridge Pkwy, Houston, TX 77041 Position Responsibilities • Assist in the evaluation and execution of turbine component repair processes, including disassembly, inspection, machining, welding, heat treatment, and final assembly. Review safety of the design and safety of the assembly, operations, and disposal of the design. • Support manufacturing engineering initiatives to improve repair cycle time, reduce costs, and enhance product quality. • Create and update work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). • Analyze data and contribute to root cause investigations of equipment or process failures. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including quality, operations, and design engineering. • Perform time studies and assist in tooling/fixture design to improve manufacturing efficiency. • Learn what Codes, standards and regulations apply to your designs and ensure compliance • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company quality standards. Required Qualifications • Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. • Completed at least 3rd semester of academic coursework by the start of the co-op. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Effective written and verbal communication abilities. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa. • Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check Desired Qualifications • Knowledge of turbine or rotating machinery components. • 3D CAD experience preferably with SolidWorks, Crea, or Inventor. • Exposure to manufacturing or repair environments through prior internships or projects • Strong problem solving skills with a high degree of mechanical aptitude. • Experience with technical documentation or engineering drawings. • Ability to effectively document and present information to a variety of internal and external groups.
