Job Title: AS400 Administrator Location: Remote Employment Type: Full-Time Contract Role Overview We are seeking an experienced AS400 Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize IBM i (AS/400) systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with server migrations, version upgrades, job scheduling, and system administration. This role involves ensuring high availability, performance, and security of AS400 environments while supporting modernization initiatives. Responsibilities • Administer, configure, and maintain IBM i (AS/400) systems in a production environment. • Perform server migrations from legacy systems to new hardware or virtualized environments. • Plan and execute version upgrades, patches, and system updates to ensure stability and compliance. • Set up, manage, and optimize job schedulers to support business processes and automation. • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance tuning. • Manage user access, security settings, backup, and recovery procedures. • Coordinate with development and operations teams to support deployment and integration tasks. • Document configurations, processes, and procedures for ongoing support and audits. • Provide support for disaster recovery planning and execution. Requirements • 5+ years of hands-on experience as an AS400 Administrator. • Proven expertise in migrating AS400 systems from old to new servers. • Strong experience with IBM i version upgrades and applying patches. • Proficiency in job scheduling tools (Robot Scheduler, Control-M, or equivalent). • Solid understanding of system performance tuning, security, and user management. • Experience with backup and disaster recovery strategies on AS400. • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a remote, collaborative environment. Preferred Qualifications • Experience working in large enterprise environments or managed service settings. • Knowledge of integration with other platforms and applications. • Familiarity with high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions for IBM i. Job Type: Contract Pay: $55.00 - $70.00 per hour Work Location: Remote
