**This is an on-site position located in Roslyn, NY** Position Summary:  The Business Analyst (BA) will serve as a key liaison between Finance, IT, and cross-functional business units during the company’s operational systems migration and transformation initiatives. This role is responsible for documenting requirements, mapping current-state and future-state processes, coordinating system testing, and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial data migration.  The ideal candidate has prior experience supporting Finance in the insurance sector and possesses a strong understanding of policy billing, premium receivables, cash application, claims disbursement, financial reporting workflows, and data testing and accuracy work efforts. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Finance Systems & Process Analysis * Partner with Finance leadership to understand current operational processes (billing, A/R, refunds, claims payments, journal entry and general ledger processes, and data reconciliations). * Document “as-is” and “to-be” workflows to ensure a clear bridge between business requirements and technical design. * Evaluate operational data interfaces between policy, claims, data warehouse, and general ledger systems to ensure accurate and complete integration. * Support the design and validation of newly integrated systems outputs. * Develop and maintain detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for both legacy and new system environments, ensuring that process documentation accurately reflects Finance’s operational requirements and control points. * Create user-friendly training materials and process guides that can be leveraged across the Finance department to promote consistency and knowledge sharing. System Migration Support * Collaborate with IT and vendor teams to define migration scope, data mapping, and validation criteria for legacy-to-new system transitions. * Develop, execute, and document test cases to prepare for departmental signoff (UAT, and end-to-end testing cycles). * Assist Finance in reconciling migrated data (policy balances, transactional details, parallel testing, incremental testing). * Monitor and resolve defects, ensuring audit trail and transparency of testing outcomes. Project Management & Communication * Serve as a member of Finance’s representation in cross-functional meetings for project planning, testing, and deployment readiness. * Track key milestones, deliverables, and dependencies within Finance workstreams. * Develop documentation and training materials for Finance users on new system processes. * Provide clear and consistent communication to Finance and project leadership regarding progress, risks, and mitigation plans. Education & Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Information Systems. * 2+ years of experience in a Business Analyst or Finance Systems role, preferably within the insurance industry. * Proven experience in system implementation or migration projects (policy administration, claims, general ledger, or data warehouse). * Strong understanding of insurance accounting workflows (premium billing, cash application, loss payments, intercompany settlements). * Solid knowledge of data validation, testing methodologies, and process documentation. * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Excel and familiarity with Visio (or equivalent process mapping tools) and ERP or financial systems (SAP, Oracle, Workday, or similar). * Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on clarity and executive-level summarization. Preferred Attributes * Experience in Origami, OASIS, or other insurance operational systems. * Familiarity with statutory accounting principles (NAIC) and regulatory reporting. * Ability to manage competing priorities and collaborate across Finance, IT, and Operations. * Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The actual compensation for this position will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by law.
