Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background specifically in Durable Medical Equipment (DME) billing and coding, with expertise in various coding systems such as HCPCS and ICD-10, utilizing the HCFA/CMS 1500 claim form. This role is essential for ensuring accurate billing processes and maintaining the integrity of medical records within our organization. Responsibilities • Process and manage DME billing and collections in a timely manner. • Review patient records to ensure proper coding using HCPCS, ICD-9, and ICD-10 standards. • Verify insurance information and communicate with insurance companies to resolve discrepancies. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding practices, and compliance regulations. • Utilize EMR and EHR systems for documenting patient information and billing data. • Collaborate with internal staff to ensure accurate documentation of services rendered. • Assist in the management of accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding claims. • Prepare reports on billing activities and collections for management review. Qualifications • Proven experience in DME billing, coding, or a related field is required. • Familiarity with HCPCS coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and other relevant coding systems is essential. • Strong understanding of medical terminology and medical office procedures. • Experience with EMR and EHR systems is preferred. • Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, and organizational skills are a must. • Ability to work independently at home as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. • Strong computer skills including knowledge on how to screenshare, use multiple monitors, and use Microsoft Office products. • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, providers, and insurance companies.
