Description Department: Procurement Reports to: SVP Operations FLSA: Exempt Supervises others: Yes Position Summary This position provides strategic leadership for procurement and sourcing activities in support of PUPCO’s operational and financial priorities. The role is responsible for driving category-level sourcing strategies, delivering measurable cost reductions, and building a high-performing supplier base that supports long-term supply chain resilience. Key accountabilities include leading strategic sourcing initiatives, optimizing total cost of ownership, and leveraging data and market intelligence to inform sourcing decisions. The position also partners cross-functionally to align supply strategies with demand and organizational goals. Responsibilities Train, coach, mentor, and develop the Procurement Team to achieve business objectives while providing career growth opportunities. Lead cost reduction initiatives across all spend categories, applying total cost of ownership analysis, competitive bidding, and strategic negotiation to achieve measurable savings targets while maintaining service levels and supply continuity. Develop and execute category-level sourcing strategies that align supply with demand, proactively identifying supply risks and implementing mitigation plans to ensure continuity of supply. Build and manage a high-performing supplier base domestically and internationally, establishing strategic supplier partnerships, conducting formal performance reviews, and driving continuous improvement in quality, delivery, cost, and innovation. Monitor and address potential supply chain ‘blind-sides’ utilizing existing metrics/KPI’s or by developing new metrics/KPI’s to maximize procurement efficiency and accuracy. Ability to lead a culturally and geo-diverse Procurement Team, communicating objectives, policies, procedures, while drawing attention to improvement opportunities. Facilitate communication between the demand (sales) and supply (purchasing) teams to build a foundation of collaboration. Oversee the management of procurement expenses and budgets. Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated data analytics, data mining, and ability to translate into actionable plans. Ability to communicate solutions, plans, tactical initiatives, manage projects, and associate progress with cross-functional teams, individually or in a group setting. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and an appreciable amount of latitude. Ability to work collaboratively with an energetic group of sales professionals to build a supply plan based on potentially short-term demand forecasting requirements. Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work in ambiguous situations, bringing clarity to the process, utilizing a data-driven approach to decisions and planning. Ability to understand the complexities of supply versus demand cycles and how to ensure organizational alignment with each unique customer’s specific needs. Ability to overcome problems and challenges, while maintaining pre-defined timelines, despite competing priorities. Demonstrated experience developing and executing category/commodity sourcing strategies, including market analysis, supplier segmentation, and strategic negotiation. Education and Experience Must have at least 5 years of leadership experience, preferably in a procurement operation. Bachelor’s degree Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field of study. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; particularly Excel. Experience with an ERP or other order management system, at an intermediate or greater level; particularly NetSuite. Working Conditions Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
