As our Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Facility Operations , you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the engineering, maintenance, sustainability, and environmental services functions across the Rose Quarter campus , including the Moda Center, Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Theater of the Clouds, and surrounding campus spaces. The AGM of Facility Operations is responsible for ensuring the long-term reliability, efficiency, and readiness of all facilities while leading day-to-day operations that prioritize safety, sustainability, and service excellence. This role works closely with the AGM of Event Operations and Director of Capital Projects and Planning , collaborating to deliver a seamless guest and event experience across the campus. DAY-TO-DAY: Leadership • Lead and develop the Director of Facilities Operations, Director of Sustainability, and Director of Environmental Services, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture. • Serve as a key member of the Rose Quarter leadership team, aligning operational priorities with organizational goals, guest experience standards, and the long-term campus vision. • Partner with the AGM of Event Operations to execute a unified campus operating strategy that supports guest experience, event readiness, and long-term facility stewardship. • Serve as the primary operational liaison to the City of Portland, Metro, and regulatory partners on inspections, permits, and facility compliance. • Support the development of policies, systems, and communication structures that promote proactive maintenance, safety, and service delivery across all venues. • Develop pathways for training, certification, and advancement across Facilities, Sustainability, and Environmental Services teams. • Foster a culture of safety, inclusion, and belonging through transparent communication, equitable leadership, and recognition programs. • Lead labor relations strategy and partnerships with union leadership to promote operational alignment and workforce engagement. Facility Operations & Infrastructure Management • Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems to ensure reliability and efficiency across the Rose Quarter campus. • Own life-safety systems (fire/life safety, emergency communications) and code compliance (OSHA, NFPA, ADA), ensuring readiness for inspections and certifications. • Champion CMMS-driven preventive and predictive maintenance programs, asset tagging, and lifecycle planning across all major systems. • Drive adoption of smart building technologies, IoT sensors, and BAS analytics to optimize performance, monitor energy use, and extend asset life. • Lead digital transformation of maintenance workflows through CMMS enhancements, data dashboards, and predictive analytics. • Ensure operational readiness of digital infrastructure, building automation, and cyber-secure systems supporting venue operations. • Collaborate closely with Capital Projects and Planning during design and construction phases to ensure smooth operational handoffs and readiness, while maintaining distinct accountability for ongoing operations and maintenance. • Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations while maintaining detailed facility documentation for inspections, audits, and capital planning cycles. • Identify and mitigate operational risks, ensuring business continuity, emergency preparedness, and overall safety under all conditions. • Align facility operations schedules with event calendars, ensuring efficient venue conversions, readiness, and post-event recovery. • Support emergency and resiliency planning, ensuring continuity of operations during major events or disruptions. Sustainability • Oversee and advance sustainability initiatives that reduce energy consumption, waste, and water use while supporting organizational sustainability goals. • Partner with the Director of Sustainability to align programs with local, state, and industry standards, leveraging data to identify and act on opportunities for improvement. • Provide strategic oversight for sustainability reporting and benchmarking (e.g., LEED O+M, Energy Star, or equivalent) to track progress and communicate impact. • Foster a culture of environmental responsibility and innovation throughout all operations and maintenance practices. • Partner with community organizations and vendors to promote equitable and environmentally responsible operations. Budgeting & Performance Management • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets for facilities operations and maintenance, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with organizational priorities. • Implement OKR dashboards to track work-order performance, energy intensity, waste diversion, and proper documentation and reporting. • Oversee vendor and union workforce strategies, procurement, and performance management processes. • Lead continuous improvement and Lean initiatives to streamline operations, eliminate inefficiencies, and reduce costs without compromising service quality. WE’D LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU: • Bring 8+ years of progressive experience in facility operations, engineering, or venue management, preferably within a multi-venue, arena, or large-scale campus environment. • Have a track record of successfully leading large, cross-functional teams spanning facilities, maintenance, and sustainability disciplines . • Have supported or overseen capital improvement and renovation projects, collaborating effectively with internal and external partners. • Possess a strong understanding of building systems, sustainability programs, and regulatory compliance (including OSHA, NFPA, and ADA standards). • Demonstrate exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire teams and foster a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence. • Operate as a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and the ability to balance long-term vision with daily execution. • Thrive in a fast-paced, event-driven environment, adapting quickly to shifting priorities while maintaining a commitment to service and reliability.
