The OR Center for Career Development in Childcare and Education (OCCD) resides in the College of Education at Portland State University. Position Summary This position exists within the Oregon Center for Career Development in Childhood Care and Education (OCCD), a non-academic unit of Portland State University. OCCD promotes the quality of childhood care and education for Oregon’s children and families by providing a statewide career development system for practitioners. OCCD is a fast paced, joint decision-making environment that adheres to high professional ethical standards and promotes lifelong learning. This position operates within the Training & Education functions of the OCCD at a secondary support level. Regularly serves as a technical leader and expert regarding trainer and training development. Performs project oversight, as needed, for challenging and unique functions and programs depending on grant requirements. This position works closely with the supervisor, coordinator, and other OCCD professional and support staff, in accomplishing these responsibilities. Within the Training & Education functions, this position has responsibility for providing assistance and professional support to the Coordinator of Training & Education. Assistance and professional support may be provided in such areas as: Assist with monitoring of Statewide Training Calendar, Trainer & Coaching Standards; Training Systems Development and Implementation; Training Curricula development and delivery, Trainer Presentation & Media Packages: Training of Trainers, review, CCR&R Liaisons, DELC; Trainer Review Teams; Partner Presentation & Education. Minimum Qualifications • BA/BS in Childhood Care and Education or related field or equivalent. • 1-3 years experience and professional competence in Childhood Care and Education or related field. • Demonstration of a desire to increase related knowledge and skills. • Evidence of professional standards, ethics, and values. • Competence in oral and written communication skills. • Demonstrated ability in the following areas: • a) Working with people from diverse backgrounds and professional affiliations. • b) Working within large or statewide programs. • c) Interpreting and implementing program policies and procedures. • d) Maintaining and analyzing program information and data. • e) Accessing & using professional resources and information. • f) Communication, collaboration and partnership with various childhood care and education partners. • Availability for statewide travel. • Must be able to report to the PSU campus and/or other assigned location in person as needed. • Successful completion of a background check. Preferred Qualifications • 3 years of professional experience and professional competence in similar position. • Leadership in professional associations at local and state levels. • Presentations in professional settings. • Participation in professional development systems. • Oregon Registry Master Trainer. • Education/training in adult development and coordination. • Participation or membership in professional associations at local or state levels. Work Days/Hours Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, schedule to be determined Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity. The starting annual salary for this position will be between $54,072 and $58,428, but may be negotiated above this range, dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR. An excellent benefits package includes 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon University System schools.
