Job Details Job Location Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe - Kingston, WA Position Type Full Time - 30 - 40 hrs/week Education Level 4 Year Degree - Required Salary Range $27.79 - $32.65 Hourly Travel Percentage Occasional travel to trainings Job Posting Date(s) Start Date 08/28/2025 End Date 09/11/2025 Description The Health Equity Zone Coordinator helps develop the Health Equity Zones (HEZ) initiative. In this role, you will build and maintain strong relationships with organizations and individuals on the HEZ Community Collective, including active collaboration with Tribal communities. You will provide technical support and guide the identification and development of priorities and strategies that are sensitive to the unique cultural and health needs of Tribal populations. This will ensure that HEZ Community Collective efforts are community-centered and that established structures promote two-way communication between the Department of Health (DOH) and the Collective's HEZ partners, including Tribal leadership and organizations. Duties Include: HEZ Strategic Plan Development and Implementation Support: • * Contribute to the development and implementation of timelines, measurable objectives, community-centered structures, key partnerships, and establish roles. • Establish, modify, and update the HEZ workplan based on partner and community feedback and provide ongoing communication to key partners. • Identify and grow partnerships with community members and organizations to ensure robust community input in the development of HEZ selection criteria. Collaborative Coordination and Support for Assigned HEZ Community Collective(s) • * Coordinate in-person and virtual meeting logistics, including securing meeting space, accommodations, and technology needs. • Ensure community compensation and travel reimbursement through our administrative processes. • Facilitate meetings, including developing and disseminating meeting materials and presentations in partnership with collective members. • Guide the development of a project workplan, including review of local health data, community resources, and opportunities. Data Utilization, Collection, and Reporting in Partnership with HEZ Epidemiologist • * Support HEZ Community Collectives in identifying health priorities and strategies through community-led data processes and the development of HEZ Community Collective evaluation measures. • Work in partnership with local public health jurisdictions and similar organizations to identify and utilize existing data sets. • Work to ensure data is presented in relevant, accessible, and meaningful ways. • Ensure a strong and resilient framework is incorporated in the assessment process, blending community stories and expertise with quantitative data. Community Engagement and Partnership: • * Build relationships with community members, local health jurisdictions, nonprofit organizations, community clinics, tribal partners, and other vested partners in the HEZ Community Collectives. • Engage meaningfully to build and restore trust between communities and State Public Health. • Implement tools to ensure equity-centered community engagement and leverage opportunities to align efforts across DOH and HEZ community collectives. • Contribute to building relationships with philanthropic organizations for HEZ funding opportunities. Remote Work: • This position is eligible for alternative scheduling. The schedule must be discussed with and approved by the supervisor and director, and may be subject to change depending on the role and department needs. Other duties as assigned. Education and Certifications: Required: It is essential to illustrate how you meet the required qualifications within your resume, cover letter, or application profile, while also indicating the duration of each relevant position held. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria: • Option 1- A minimum of four (4) years of experience leading or contributing to operational oversight for community-based groups. This includes tasks such as relationship building, meeting facilitation, agenda development, and collecting and analyzing data to identify health priorities or strategies through an equity and social justice lens, while coordinating community-driven processes and work plans collaboratively with community members. OR • Option 2- A bachelor's degree or higher in public health, community health, social work, health communications, public administration, or a related field, paired with two (2) years of relevant experience in the areas mentioned above. Additional Required Qualifications: • Strong understanding and experience working within Tribal communities and their cultural contexts. • Knowledge of the unique challenges and strengths faced by Tribal populations. • Effective communication skills to engage with Tribal leaders and community members, showing respect for Indigenous languages and traditions. • A commitment to fostering partnerships that empower Tribal communities and promote their self-determination. • Awareness of federal and state policies affecting Tribal governance and community development. Desired Qualifications: • Experience addressing the root causes of systemic inequities and social determinants of health, including through lived experience. • Experience developing and implementing newly created programs or initiatives. • Experience leading multiple, complex projects or tasks at the same time. • Experience with contract management and administrative processes. • Experience integrating community and/or Tribal voices, feedback, needs, and preferences into program plans, projects, and initiatives. • Dual language proficiency in a language other than English, skills must include reading, writing, speaking, and translating. • AI/AN or those with close family ties are desired candidates. Relevant Experience: Applicants should highlight any relevant experience that may include, but is not limited to: • Leading day-to-day tasks necessary for the management of community-based initiatives, projects, or programs. • Creating agendas, leading meetings, workshops, planning sessions, or community gatherings to advance community-based processes through organization, input gathering, and materials presentation. • Developing and managing collaborative work projects or event coordination with community members. • Building and sustaining partnerships with community members to achieve shared goals. • Collecting community feedback through surveys or interviews, compiling and analyzing data with an equity lens, and using this information to inform decisions and measure outcomes. • Detailing work focused on social justice and equity, including the application of these principles in program design, implementation, data analysis and collection, advocacy roles, and community engagement efforts. Physical Requirements: • Regularly required to finger, handle, and reach with hands and arms • Frequently required to walk, sit, stand. • Occasionally required to lift and move up to 25 pounds. • Normal audio and visual acuity Travel Requirements: Local, Statewide, and out-of-state travel may be required.
