Reports to: Executive Vice President, Global Network and Nonprofit Programs Salary: $134,000-$150,000 annually Department: Network and NGO Programs Location: Points of Light is a remote-first organization. Any U.S. location in the Eastern or Central time zone in a market with a major airport. Washington, DC preferred. Position Summary: The Vice President of Programs at Points of Light (POL), in partnership with the EVP of Global Network and Nonprofit Programs, provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the organization’s portfolio of programs and initiatives. This role ensures the effective design, implementation, evaluation, and scaling of programs-including the global affiliate network, recognition initiatives, convenings, and nonprofit capacity-building efforts. The Vice President guides program planning and execution, aligns teams through annual workplans, and fosters cross-departmental collaboration to advance Points of Light’s strategic priorities. Additionally, this position drives innovation and continuous improvement to enhance the effectiveness and impact of POL’s program portfolio, ensuring all efforts align with the organization’s mission to inspire, equip, and mobilize people to create positive change through volunteering and civic engagement. Position Functions and Responsibilities Include: Program Strategy, Design & Execution (40%) • * Partner with the EVP, Global Networks and Nonprofit Programs to lead the development and execution of a comprehensive programmatic strategy that aligns with POL’s mission, goals, and strategic plan. • Oversee the lifecycle of program initiatives, from ideation and design through pilot, implementation, evaluation, and strategic scaling to broaden impact and reach. • Ensure programs engage stakeholders in entire program cycle -design, execution and evaluation including nonprofits, volunteers, corporate partners, and community organizations. Team & Stakeholder Leadership (20%) • * Lead, mentor, and support a diverse team of staff leading program portfolios. • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and learning. • Collaborate with the EVP and team leads to set strategic team goals that drive performance and impact across initiatives. • Provide professional development opportunities to grow leadership, skills and capabilities of the team. • Represent the Programs team in cross-functional leadership and planning discussions. Impact & Evaluation (20%) • * Partner with the VP of Program Evaluation & Impact to implement frameworks and tools that measure and strengthen program performance and impact. • Ensure timely and accurate collection, analysis, and reporting of key performance indicators. • Present outcomes and impact results to internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, funders, and community partners, to inform strategic direction and influence future priorities and resourcing. Development (15%) • * Contribute to concept papers, grant proposals, budgets, and reports with programmatic insights and documentation. • Ensure timely execution and reporting of program-related grant deliverables in partnership with the Development and Finance teams. • Build and maintain relationships with program funders, ensuring alignment on objectives and accountability for results. Partnerships & External Engagement (5%) • * Cultivate relationships with key external partners, including nonprofits, government agencies, funders, and corporate supporters. • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to elevate program visibility and impact stories. Core Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Proficiency in outcome measurement, data analysis, and evaluation tools • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to lead through influence and collaboration across departments and sectors. • Proven track record of overseeing complex, multi-stakeholder programs with measurable impact • Strong understanding of grant management • Experience with national networks, coalitions, or affiliate models preferred Requirements: • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience with an intermediary, national or global organization • Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit program development, implementation, and evaluation; a master’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, social impact, or a related field preferred • Preferred experience in civic engagement, volunteerism, and nonprofit capacity building organizations • Demonstrated experience managing high-performing teams and building a respectful organizational culture • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
