About the role: PMAT, Inc. is seeking a driven Director of Business Systems with a strong focus on project control. This individual will be proactive, disciplined, and collaborative, with demonstrated leadership, communication, and management capabilities. This role owns all aspects of the company’s business systems, sets standards for enterprise reporting and analytics, and is responsible for developing and maintaining a scalable, compliant, and efficient enterprise reporting and information infrastructure. Responsibilities: • Work with program managers and subcontract administrators to plan, monitor, and control project performance • Forecast expenditures; prepare Estimates at Completion (EACs); and track costs on detailed ACRN-funded contracts • Ensure compliance with government contract requirements, deliverables, and applicable regulations • Prepare, manage, and submit financial deliverables • Produce and manage financial reporting for program managers and government points of contact • Conduct cost analysis, explain variances against budget, and recommend corrective actions as needed • Present project financials in multiple internal and external forums • Manage and process financial contract modifications • Oversee contract and project setup and ongoing maintenance within the ERP system • Apply working knowledge of DCAA audit processes and FAR requirements • Use strong interpersonal skills when interacting with prime contractors, subcontractors, and government representatives • Develop and maintain advanced Excel spreadsheets using complex formulas and functions • Establish and maintain a continuous improvement process that incorporates input from internal and external stakeholders who rely on business systems data • Build relationships across organizational boundaries to define business system requirements driven by regulatory, contractual, operational, and growth needs • Translate business and system requirements into standardized, enterprise-wide reporting outputs used by Finance, Accounting, Technical Teams, HR, and Business Development • Develop and maintain a standardized suite of enterprise reports • Conduct gap analyses of existing systems; evaluate prospective systems; and present recommendations to senior leadership • Lead implementation and integration of new business systems • Develop and maintain automated tools to analyze process effectiveness, identify bottlenecks, and monitor system usage • Partner with quality systems leads to ensure seamless integration between quality programs and business systems • Develop systems integration solutions internally and/or in collaboration with external partners • Ensure all business systems are properly documented, governed, and maintained as changes are introduced • Serve as program/project manager for complex business systems initiatives and transformations • Develop and deliver user training as needed to drive adoption and user satisfaction • Respond to escalations by providing high-quality problem-solving support while maintaining system and process governance • Build, lead, and manage the business systems team as the organization grows Required Skills and Experience: • Minimum of 10 years of experience in government contracting, ERP systems (e.g., Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, JAMIS), and enterprise KPIs across finance, accounting, and business operations • Strong understanding of government contract types (Cost Plus, T&M, FFP, etc.) and financial performance analysis • Advanced Excel and data management skills • Flexible and comfortable managing a diverse and evolving workload • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines • Desired: experience with the Unanet accounting system • Professional demeanor with the ability to communicate openly with leadership and collaborate effectively across teams • Demonstrated ability to define estimates and budgets, interpret contract requirements, and interact professionally with program managers, subcontractors, and government personnel Education and Certification Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration strongly preferred Citizenship and Clearance requirements: • U.S. Citizenship required • No dual citizenship Location: Remote, with preferred locations in San Diego, CA and the National Capital Region (DMV) Travel: Under 10% Work Environment: PMAT offices as needed. In some cases, work within a government facility may be required. Travel may be necessary for customer engagement, team coordination, and occasional business development activities.
