The Shop Manager – Machining Operations & Quoting is a hands-on leader responsible for daily machining operations, job flow, and machining-based quoting in a small precision machine shop. This role requires strong machining knowledge, practical estimating judgment, and the ability to balance production, delivery, and quality requirements. Primary ResponsibilitiesMachining & Shop Operations (Primary) • Lead daily machining operations (CNC and/or manual) • Read and interpret prints, tolerances, and GD&T • Support setups, troubleshooting, and process decisions • Prioritize jobs and coordinate workflow to meet delivery commitments • Provide technical guidance to machinists • Communicate job status and issues clearly to the owner Quoting & Estimating (Core Responsibility) • Review customer RFQs, prints, and BOMs • Estimate machining time, setups, tooling, and labor • Identify material requirements and outside processing • Recognize risk, unclear prints, and assumptions • Work with the owner to finalize pricing and lead times • Improve quoting consistency and accuracy over time Quality (Integrated, Not Primary) • Ensure parts are produced per print and customer requirements • Support first-piece and in-process inspections • Follow ISO 9001 shop procedures • Identify and communicate quality issues early to prevent rework Job Type: Full-time Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year Benefits: • Health insurance • Paid time off Experience: • machine shop: 5 years (Preferred) Shift availability: • Day Shift (Required) Work Location: In person
