Develop and implement scalable tax services strategy, integrate tax with wealth management, advise on operational frameworks, and present findings to senior leadership.
7+ years tax consulting or financial advisory experience, CPA preferred, expertise in tax-wealth integration, and strong communication skills.
A fast-growing wealth management and financial services firm is seeking an experienced Contract Tax Consultant to support the strategic expansion of its Tax Services function. This is a short-term, high-impact consulting engagement focused on business strategy, operational integration, and scalability — not day-to-day tax preparation. The ideal consultant will bring a strong background in building or scaling tax practices, particularly within firms that integrate tax services alongside wealth management or investment advisory offerings. This is a unique opportunity to provide executive-level guidance, evaluate current operations, and deliver clear, actionable recommendations that will directly influence the future direction of the business. Key Responsibilities • Partner with leadership to develop and implement a scalable business strategy for the Tax Services division. • Provide recommendations on staffing models, org structure, technology solutions, and performance metrics. • Ensure tax services are seamlessly integrated into investment advisory offerings — not treated as a siloed function. • Advise on industry best practices and operational frameworks within the Registered Advisor (RA) space. • Collaborate with executive and cross-functional stakeholders to align strategic direction and execution plans. • Present strategic findings and implementation roadmaps in a clear, actionable format to senior leadership. Qualifications • CPA designation preferred, but not required. • 7+ years of experience in tax consulting, public accounting, or financial advisory. • Proven track record of building or scaling a tax or advisory practice. • Strong understanding of the Registered Advisor (RA) ecosystem and tax-wealth integration strategies. • Demonstrated expertise in defining business processes, KPIs, and operational growth plans. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Engagement Details • Duration: 6–9 months • Commitment: Flexible (part-time or full-time negotiable) • Location: Remote (U.S.-based) • Compensation: This salary is open for negotiation; competitive and based on experience and scope of engagement. Why This Opportunity This is an exciting chance to shape the future of a growing tax advisory function within a well-established wealth management firm. The selected consultant will play a critical role in crafting the strategic roadmap, designing operational frameworks, and positioning the team for sustainable long-term growth. This engagement is ideal for a seasoned consultant who thrives on solving complex business challenges, aligning cross-functional teams, and delivering high-value outcomes.
