SOCIAL IMPACT OPPORTUNITY WITH GLOBAL REACH! This is a significant opportunity for an experienced technology development professional interested in joining an early-stage startup aiming to transform civic engagement, democracy and politics around the world. We've been working on something with potential for significant social impact. 2024 is our launch. Our MVP is almost ready to pilot. We're looking to hire a couple of savvy front end/full stack development professionals to join our team. PINION - Tinder for Politics meets WIkipedia for Public Opinion About Pinion (https://www.pinionvote.com/): Civic engagement is way too hard. Pinion is a new platform and community where you can easily find and vote on legislation/topics you care about at local, state national and global levels. Easily Share your "Pinion" to social media if you like or remain private, view results, and track your representatives to see how well they are representing your interests - plus compare candidates running to replace them in the next election so you can see "who is voting with me". Our tag line, "Tinder for politics meets Wikipedia for public opinion" describes our vision. When we share our idea most people say "I can't believe this doesn't already exist". About the position - Pinion is moving from a web MVP to a user oriented, interactive environment that utilizes our distinctive engagement mechanism. We are seeking a front end/full stack developer to help us design and build out solutions that users will love and customers will value. An ideal candidate for this position will be comfortable working in a remote startup environment, where you’re dealing with a lot of moving parts but still have an eye for detail. A self-motivated team player who works well with other team members and can adapt to fast-changing environments will thrive. You should reliably have available bandwidth to be able to communicate with teammates and work on development tasks. Responsibilities and Duties • Review, develop and deploy quality application code for our existing application. Integrate user engagement elements into new platform features. • Contribute to product development lifecycle for application improvement. • Work with the back-end team as necessary to enable new and updated functionality. • Consistently take on and complete work assignments in reasonable time frames. • Participate in governance and review (Workflow staging, QA/QC, documentation, etc) Qualifications • Demonstrable knowledge and experience designing/developing web and app features that enhance user experiences and simplify data collection. • Must have a good experience level with a mix of our core environment: Linux, JS/REACT, Azure DevOps, SQL Server, Entity Framework. Node.js. • Good to have: Python, Django, Apache, Docker, Microsoft development stack/tools • Strong understanding of the details of full-stack data sharing (API calls, UI/UX requirements, Client-side and Server-side interactions) • Good team player and willingness to engage with teammates, get to know them and create a collaborative working environment. • Formal education or equivalent work experience as a front-end/full stack developer. • Available bandwidth - We undersand life that happens, jobs change, families require time and we expect to accommodate this but if you should expect to consistently contribute at least 10 hours per week, with more welcome. Compensation - Please Note - We are a true early stage start up (pre-funding/pre-revenue) and all working for future equity only (no salaries yet) using the Slicing Pie methodology (www.slicingpie.com) to fairly allocate equity in the company. This role is intended to grow into a full-time salary+bonus+equity position in the future as we gain funding and revenues. Also, Angel List requires that this post be classified as a "Cofounder" in order to post on the site. While you will be part of our founding team, this is NOT a legal employment offer for a "cofounder role" - all of our team members are on contractor work agreements. Finally - this is a flexible fully remote position. An ideal candidate should be self-sufficient, with the bandwidth to reliably contribute, interested in our technology and mission, and comfortable with our early stage, “boot strapping” startup status.
