What you’ll do Lead, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary research team: Guide AI/ML projects from ideation and research design through experimentation, validation, and successful transfer into product engineering roadmaps. Drive innovative AI/ML research: Oversee and directly contribute to the development of methodologies and production-grade algorithms in biometrics, voice authentication, fraud prevention, deepfake detection, computer vision, video understanding, audio processing, and related areas. Advance video and multimodal research: Build capabilities in video analysis for identity verification, liveness detection, and synthetic media detection. Explore multimodal fusion of video, audio, and behavioral signals to improve fraud prevention and authentication accuracy. Manage strategic research operations: Champion a rigorous, lean research culture. Prioritize projects, implement effective governance, set key performance indicators, and ensure reproducibility, integrity, and measurable impact for all research initiatives. Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with engineering, product management, security, and go-to-market teams to align research strategy with Pindrop’s commercial goals and customer needs. Facilitate the transfer of AI and video models into scalable, real-world products, including on cloud and embedded platforms. AI technical leadership and best practices: Ensure adoption of state-of-the-art practices in machine learning development, data handling, and model evaluation (including adversarial, synthetic, and multimodal methods). Stay current with emerging AI trends and scholarship. Promote ethical AI research and responsible innovation. Evangelize research outcomes: Publish patents, peer-reviewed papers, and contribute to the broader research community. Represent Pindrop at top-tier conferences, industry consortia, and academic partnerships. Your skill-set Must-haves Advanced degree (PhD or Master’s) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, or equivalent experience. 8+ years of professional experience in AI/ML research, including deep learning, generative AI, computer vision, video analysis, audio processing, voice biometrics, speaker recognition, or fraud analytics. Demonstrated experience leading teams in AI research, mentoring researchers, and managing the full research lifecycle from ideation to production. Hands-on experience with Python and major ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras), data engineering and pipeline management, and statistical analysis. Successful track record of publishing at prestigious conferences/journals and transferring research models into production products. Nice-to-haves Experience in adversarial AI, deepfake detection, multimodal fusion, or biometric risk analysis. Background in large-scale video analytics, liveness detection, or synthetic video detection. Experience building scalable technology organizations and structuring team topologies for efficiency. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and embedded system deployment. Knowledge of applied research ethics, privacy, and responsible AI standards. Within 30 days, you’ll Complete onboarding and attend New Employee Orientation sessions with other new Pindroppers. Be introduced to your team and added to any standing meetings (1:1s, standups, weekly touchpoints). Get acclimated to your surroundings, meet your onboarding buddy, and key department members. Review Pindrop’s Research strategy, ongoing projects, and historical achievements. Within 60 days, you’ll Establish relationships with key partners for continued collaboration, and build your Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for the next quarter. Align research priorities with company objectives, product roadmaps, and executive stakeholders. Refine or set the vision for Pindrop’s research agenda; benchmark capabilities versus industry and academic leaders. Within 90 days, you’ll Launch or accelerate strategic research initiatives and present an updated multi-year research strategy to the executive staff. Mentor research team members, foster a culture of curiosity and collaboration, and initiate external collaborations. Begin executing against the research roadmap and drive successful transfer of AI models to production deployments.
