Pinchin is seeking an Operations Manager to join our Hazardous Materials team in Berkley, MI. The role reports to the Director of Midwest Operations. Hazardous Materials (IH) Team Overview In the Hazardous Materials (Industrial Hygiene) department, our work empowers clients to make informed, confident decisions about building safety, property acquisitions, redevelopment, and contaminated site management. This role supports that mission by ensuring our teams deliver accurate, timely insights that protect health and reduce risk. Together, we create safer environments, guide responsible development, and contribute to healthier communities. Your Impact as an Operations Manager • Responsible for the overall financial performance of the department, including ensuring budgets are prepared meeting KPI’s and staff utilization targets. • Ensure project managers deliver high‑quality management, administrative, and technical services, and coach employees when improvement is needed. • Lead all Industrial Hygiene staff and ensure operational effectiveness. • Develop the annual business plan and execute strategies that support the assigned business unit, including maintaining a strong industry presence, building client relationships, staying knowledgeable about Pinchin’s services, managing staffing and workforce needs, and ensuring effective onboarding and ongoing staff training. • Perform project management and/or client management duties as appropriate. • Represent the company in high‑level negotiations, professional meetings, contract discussions, and business engagements as needed. • Meet regularly with the team to review budgets, workloads, field activities, procedures, and to identify and address issues or concerns. • Provide direct supervision to assigned staff, ensuring engagement through effective performance management, coaching, training, and career development. • Lead by example, demonstrating and reinforcing Pinchin’s Core Values and desired culture. • Other duties as assigned. What You'll Bring To Pinchin The right candidate brings a mix of technical ability, curiosity, accountability, and a genuine interest in creating better outcomes for clients, communities, and the environment. You value collaboration, learning, and respectful teamwork. • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field. • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is an asset. • 10+ years of IH industry experience, preferably in Michigan and other Midwest states. • Demonstrated leadership experience including both field and office environments. • A track record of managing budgets, meeting financial goals, and tracking KPIs. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office. • Robust writing and documentation skills. • Ability to read technical specifications, drawings, and reports • Valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
