Full Description

Position Summary: The Entry Level Driver Training Instructor provides training to those holding Commercial Driver's License Permits per the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations. This position will report directly to the ELDT Manager and will be responsible for communicating with students, additional instructors, and State/Federal Compliance Officers. The ELDT Instructor will also assist the ELDT Manager in the maintenance of training vehicles and development of driver training programs. In this role, the ELDT Instructor will combine a strong attention to detail with an ability to multi-task, work under pressure and ensure student drivers safely operate commercial motor vehicles and demonstrate the proficiency needed to obtain their Class A CDL. Essential Functions: • Knowledge of DOT regulations and Federal and State laws. • Perform CDL testing and training per Federal and State guidelines. • Participate in creating and implementing driver training programs. • Maintain training records (e.g., driver assessments, compliance certification, driver files) within S3's learning management system. • Maintain testing records per State CDL Testing guidelines. • Ensure commercial motor vehicles and trailers are inspected and in proper working order and maintenance is performed as needed/required. • Ensure classroom and range facilities are properly set up and in compliance with all applicable Federal, State and/or local regulations. • Prepare and disseminate material (e.g., instructional notes, feedback forms). • Act as a point-of-contact for supervision, students, and instructors. • Assist in maintaining order and organization of training resources and processes. • Resolve issues as they arise onsite. • Submit reports on training activities and results. • Recommend improvements to training programs and program support processes. • Ensure students follow established policies. • Effectively speak in front of large groups. • Perform all duties in accordance with Company's safety rules. • Must be able to handle confidential information in accordance with regulations and policies. Minimum Requirements: • Must hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License and all endorsements necessary to operate the CMV for which training is to be provided. • Must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). • Proven experience with at least 2 years of experience as a behind-the-wheel commercial motor vehicle instructor. • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Third-Party Examiner certificate to perform CDL testing in the State of Florida. • Experience in operating utility commercial motor vehicles is preferred but not required. • Good grammatical skills and thought-organization ability. • Knowledge of office procedures. • Proficient in MS Office; working knowledge of databases and Learning Management Systems (LMS) is a plus. • Excellent organizational, planning, and multitasking skills and abilities. • Outstanding communication skills. • Strong attention to detail. • Ability to deal and work well with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. • Demonstrated ability to work independently and follow through on assignments. • High energy level with ability to work in fast paced, ambiguous environment. • High commitment to achieving goals and plans. • Maintain professional appearance at all times. • Must be able and willing to travel.
