Company Description Founded in 2016, Physicians Against Red Meat (PhARM) (pronounced “farm”) is the leading physician voice for reduced red meat consumption. Through advocacy, education, and engagement efforts, we mobilize health professionals and advocates to drive dietary change for healthier people and a healthier planet. Position Title Pro Bono Nonprofit Legal Counsel (Volunteer) Position Overview PhARM is seeking a volunteer attorney to provide pro bono legal guidance to support the organization’s governance, contracts, and basic employment documentation. The volunteer will advise on nonprofit legal matters and review key organizational documents to help ensure the organization operates ethically, transparently, and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Classification Volunteer position (unpaid) Location Remote Commitment Details Up to 10 hours a month Key Responsibilities • Review and advise on contracts, MOUs, and other legal documents. • Provide counsel on nonprofit governance, including bylaws, board policies, and tax-exempt compliance. • Draft and review employment- and volunteer-related documents such as handbooks, NDAs, offer letters, and independent contractor agreements. • Ensure organizational policies align with federal and state nonprofit, employment, and labor laws. Qualifications • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree. • Relevant experience in nonprofit, employment/labor, corporate, or administrative law. • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. • Commitment to the mission and values of PhARM. Preferred Qualifications • Active license to practice law in California. • Minimum 3 years of experience. • Familiarity with nonprofit governance, tax-exempt regulations, and employment and labor law as applied to small nonprofits. License/Certification: • Are you licensed to practice law in California? (Preferred) Work Location: Remote
